Videos of what happened in the halls were shared to everyone in school. The students had a field day with the news and made it a point to torment Tommy about being rejected.
Someone thought it would be funny to flood her locker with letters, but these ones were not too kind. Tommy thought she could handle the unwanted attention, but she was starting to get overwhelmed. As much as she wanted to stay home until it died down, she didn't want to worry her dad. He was already handling a lot with the new house. She didn't want to add onto his plate.
Today wasn't any better that the last few. One of the athletes walked behind her, mockingly confessing his undying love for her. She had in headphones and was blasting music making it obvious that she was ignoring him, which pissed him off. He pulled at her arm to stop her walking and reached a hand to take out her AirPods when he was yanked away from her by his backpack.
"Aye man what the fuck!" The jock shouted turning around to face his assailant. His face paled when he saw August Mathers was the one the yanked him.
August was know to be a very intimidating person. He was never good at settling an argument with his words, so he used his fists. His light brown skin and long curly hair was tied into a low bun. His iconic jean jacket was tied around his waist while the black T shirt showed off his defined muscles. He was tall, standing at six foot three inches, towering over the jerk that messed with Tommy.
It wasn't known to many, but August has been in love with Tomorrow since their sophomore year. That made this whole situation a bit more intense.
"August! Shit man I'm sorry- I ain't mean to-" the jock started to apologize but the angry glare that August gave him made him stop talking. August said nothing, he only shoved him into the lockers and stalked toward the shaking boy until a soft hand wrapped around his forearm.
"Gus, stop. I'm ok." Tommy spoke softly, her brown eyes looked up at him as he shifted his gaze to look at her. He felt his heart quicken at the nickname she had given him. He hesitated before nodded his head.
"Come near her again, I'll make you regret it." His low voice threatens. The jock quickly nodded his head and rushed off away from the pair.
"You don't have to do that you know. I can handle myself just fine." She muttered as she played with the strap of her sweat pants. August raised a hand to fix her locs and straighten out her crop top. He had always been a little OCD and Tommy never let him forget how annoying it could be.
She laughed and slapped his hands away from her stomach. His hands were cold, when they grazed her sides it tickled.
"Stop! You know I'm ticklish!" She laughs. He smiled at the beautiful girl in front of him before he flicked her forehead. August didn't know his own strength at times, so the little flick on her forehead hurt more than he intended.
"Ow Gus! The hell!" She exclaimed as she rubbed the spot on her forehead.
"You're not invincible. It's not a crime to ask for help Morrow." he put a hand in his pocket and swung the other arm around her shoulder as they walked down the hallway to class. August was never shy about his feeling for her, and even though Tommy had told him she didn't see him that way, he never stop his affectionate ways.
