They all crawled into NeNe's expensive car that his Abuela got for him when he turned seventeen. Tommy insisted on driving seeing as NeNe drove like a bat out of hell. NeNe sat in the passenger seat, after a short argument with August who also wanted to sit in the front. NeNe not so kindly reminded August who's car it was an August huffed, siting in the back with MayLin.
August like Tommy's friends. They were kind to him and most importantly not afraid of him. He had a bad reputation over the years for fighting a lot. People tend to steer clear of August and he was fine with it at first, but then he grew lonely. Tommy walked into his life when he needed someone and so did her friends. It was refreshing to be surrounded by people that truly cared about him.
He would never admit it out loud, but he admired NeNe. August wasn't all that outspoken before he met NeNe, but after a while he grew more confident in speaking his mind. Thus he asked Tommy out and, though he was rejected, he was proud that he finally said what he felt. The four friends rode around town until it was time to go pick up VonTay. Tommy's friends whined, saying they didn't want to end their hangout just yet. So everyone decided that after picking VonTay up, they would head over to an arcade. VonTay loves watching Tommy's friends get all worked up about winning games so they figured it was a good plan.
Tommy parked the car in front of her brothers elementary school and waited with the other parents and guardians of the children for them to be let out. The bell rung and out came running a bunch of happy children along with Tommy's little brother. VonTay's purple Glittery backpack made a few of the other parents send judgmental glances, but neither of the siblings cared.
He was happy, a wide smile spread on his face and that's all Tommy cared about. The boy rushed over to his sister, tackling her knees with a big hug.
"Sissy! I painted you in my art class!" He said, he face looking up at her with excitement. His chin rested on the top of her thigh as he grinned, showing her the childish finger painting and pointing at her.
"Aw, ducky I love it!" She says as she takes the painting from him. It looks nothing like her, but it made her heart swell at how cute her brother looks as he showed her. So she fell in love with the painting.
"I am going to get this framed. Oh-or I'll have it put in a magazine! No, a billboard!" She exclaimed as she tickles the boy. He giggles like a manic as her begs her to stop which Tommy reluctantly obliges.
Tommy takes his hand and lead him back to the car. As the pair get closer the windows roll down, revealing the smiley faces of Tommy's idiot friends.
"Our great god has arrived! All hale the mighty VonVon!" Said NeNe.
"VONVON VONVON!" They all repeated, raising their hands up and down pretending to bow.
It was a little game that MayLin had made up when she and the other were playing 'War' with VonTay. She had bestowed him the honor of being their god, nicknaming him VonVon, the god of sparkles and frosting. It was such a hilarious night that everyone kept the character alive.
