Sooo, it's a superhero AU! Your character can be the hero or the villain, it doesn't really matter, but one thing does matter.
The villain has built a machine that can track down the hero's loved ones and show them their location. The villain really thinks they did something here, because the hero is begging them not to turn it on.
Obviously they do because this is the catalyst for this whole prompt and the machine starts up, but there's just one teensy weensy tiny little but ever so important detail the villain didn't think about.
The hero loved them.
The machine shows the villain's exact location and the hero is left stuttering and stumbling on their excuses while the villain has to process that they're the only one the hero loves and/or cares about (in case you want this to be platonic)
And the rest can be left to imagination and/or planning! Have fun
