"Xiaoooo! I'm baaaaack!"

Venti came running in the house, opening the unlocked door.

"Oh. Welcome back, Venti." Xiao said, still slumping on the couch.

"Heeey, aren't you going to greet me? Your best friend???" Venti hurled himself onto Xiao, giggling.

Ok, so Xiao never had any kind of deep physical contact like hugging in years. Only the gods would know how long it has been.

Xiao stammered gibberish just like the first time all those kids entered his house. Venti noticed that and sat up, facing Xiao directly.

"What's wrong? Is everything alright?" Venti asked in a calm voice.

"I.. everything's alright. I- I just- never had a hug or anything like that for a... For a long time." Xiao slowly replied, still tense. "I'm.. just not used to it, and I guess I forgot how it felt."

Venti tilted his head, blinked rapidly two times, smiled, and pat Xiao's head. "Do you want me to get off you? We can process slowly if you're unfamiliar with direct contact."

Xiao paused, unsure of what to reply with. He wanted to stay like this, but he didn't want to say it out loud. He just claims it as cringe. You wouldn't want to be cringe in front of your only friend now, would you?

Venti waited for his response patiently. He wanted to know more, he needed to know more. If he was going to help this poor soul, he needed to know more about him. But Xiao's socially awkward, so Venti can do nothing but wait for Xiao to come to him.

Finally, Xiao decided to make a move. He pulled Venti closer, not letting him go. Xiao buried his face into the braided boy. Venti took this as a sign to stay in this position, so he giggled and started to stroke his head.

"Let's stay like this for now then."
