PART TWO: THE SOULS WERE RIGHT, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
Mara wasted no time; she began exploring the earth. She was eager to learn all things about life. From the dirt to the grass, to the flowers, to the trees. Every creature, from the birds to the fishes, to the beasts. She had studied them all. Gained all the knowledge she can about how mortals operate. She made acquaintances with mortals, they showed her kindness and hospitality. Mara could get used to this life.
The souls were right. Life is beautiful.
It has already been a few weeks since Mara's escape and she is enjoying every waking moment of it. She had learned so much about this foreign world, both good and bad, but she enjoyed it, nonetheless. In fact, she recently learned what berries are, and she grew a liking for it. It was her favorite food. She was lucky enough to end up in a kingdom where peace and kindness prospered, the Kingdom of Lykinsberg, that is where she came about learning how the mortal world works. Today, she planned to visit the kingdom's local market, the week after will be the castle.
There she was, a curious Mara, looking around the kingdom's local market. Stalls were everywhere and so were people. They would sell the freshest of fruits, the prettiest of flowers and her favorite of all, berries. Mara walked around for a few more minutes, examining every detail of everything, observing everyone.
"Young girl" An old man had said that caught Mara's attention. She looked around making sure that she was the one that the old man was talking to.
"Me?" Mara questioned, one hand on her chest
"Yes, you" the old man reassured her. His hair was purely white and so was his beard. His face was wrinkly, but his eyes were visibly grey, and a cane was holding him up. Mara moved closer to the old man so she could hear him properly. "All my life I have lived in this kingdom. I know everyone here little girl, how come I have not seen you around?" The old man added
"I am new here" Mara answered
"Oh that is preposterous! who are your parents?" The old man asked
"I am the daughter of Lilith, the Goddess of Death" She answered truthfully, she has never been one to lie.
"Shut your mouth stupid girl, gods do not walk among mortals" The old man's demeanor changed drastically, he was giving her looks of disgust.
"I speak only of the truth sir,"
"Be careful silly little girl, your words will be your undoing" the old man's words were sharp, impaling Mara. With another look, the old man had scared Mara away. She ran as fast and as far as her feet could carry. Completely ignoring everything happening around her when she ran into something— someone rather. The person's stoic figure made Mara lose her composure, she fell to the ground. The stranger quickly then turned to face Mara, who was on the ground.
"Are you alright Miss?" Mara's eyes dawned upon a beautiful stranger. His hair was golden and bit
disheveled, his eyes were the bluest Mara had seen. If she would have guessed, this boy was only seventeen, however, signs of adulthood were distinct with this boy. He looked like he could take someone down in a fistfight, but he also looked like he gives the warmest of hugs.
Mara had just noticed that this stranger was offering her a hand, and so she took it, his hands were warm and strong. "Yes, I-I'm alright" Mara was quick to dust her robe, ignoring the heat rushing through her cheeks.
"Are you sure? You seemed to be running from something. Are you in trouble?" The stranger seemed worried
"No, really, I'm fine" Mara gave the stranger a reassuring smile "But I must go now" She added
