ever since jungwon found out that jay was living alone, he frequently visited jay on their off days and would spend time at his house before work whenever school ended early. the two got closer as time flew by and they were soon in their final year of high school.

it was an ordinary friday. the two had a few hours to spare before work and were chilling at jay's one room flat. jay struggled to pay for his house fees and become increasingly haggard trying to make ends meet. jungwon pitied him and would  make him lunch whenever he was free. thankfully, the landlord was empathetic and lowered his rent. however, the salary from jay's part time job was barely enough for him to get by, causing him to rely heavily on jungwon's comfort and presence. 

"hey jay! give back the remote!" jungwon whined as jay switched the channel. jay smirked and giggled, handing the remote back to the younger who had an angry expression on his face. this instantly lit up jungwon's face and he continued watching his favourite tv show.

"i'm going to shower!" jay said and left the room.

soon, jay came out of the room with his dripping wet hair and a towel wrapped around his neck. jungwon stared at him in awe as he admired jay's well-built body and figure.  jay noticed this, causing jungwon to blush and snap out of his trance.

"hey how many times must i tell you to dry your hair? you will catch a cold!" jungwon nagged at jay and gestured him to sit in front him on the carpet. jay's house was rather empty. besides, it was too small to fit any fancy furniture. jay shuffled towards the carpet and sat in front of jungwon who proceeded to dry his hair with the towel. jungwon never realised how cozy and dependable jay's back looked.

"thanks bro, you're the best" jay said.

the word "bro" made  jungwon feel slightly disappointed. he knew that they were just friends but he just felt rather depressed. he didn't know why he felt that way and simply brushed his feelings off.

it was another working day and jungwon was so exhausted that he dozed off at work, his textbook still in his hands. jay was careful not to wake him up and dealt with the store while jungwon took a good rest. jay realised that jungwon had well-defined features - his thick brows, deep double eyelids, soft skin and high nose bridge. as he stared at jungwon, he strangely felt his heart flutter.
why am i feeling like this?

the two spent the rest of the year together everyday. on weekdays they would go to work together and on weekends, the two would hang out. every moment they spent in one another's presence was filled with so much joy that the pains in their life were bearable.
