Back In America

After 3 months.....

Anu comes back home from her office. Just as she walks in her apartment, she smells delicious food. She goes right into the kitchen and sees Anuj, wearing an apron, cooking some food. Anuj is not aware of her presence as he is busy cooking the food. Anu quietly goes behind him and hugs him tightly. Anuj gets startled and looks back.

Anuj - Oh god, you scared me.

Anu - Well, initially you scared me. What are you doing here in my kitchen?

Anuj - Oh cooking some food for my lovely and beautiful fiance.

Anu - (smiles) Really? Well, what are you cooking?

Anuj - Tasty macaroni and cheese with meatloaf.

Anu - mmmm...sounds delicious. I will go and change. Don't start eating without me.

Anuj - ugh, never.

Soon after they finish their dinner. Then they sits on the sofa in the living room, watching tv.

Anu - Anuj can I ask you a question?

Anuj - Go on.

Anu - Well, when are we gonna get married?

Anuj - After you safely deliver our baby.

Anu - Hmm....but munchkin, I want to marry you right now.

Anuj looks down at her. She is resting her head on his lap.

Anuj - Okay, we will marry tomorrow.

Anu - (looks up and smiles brightly) Really??!!!

Anuj - (chukcles) No mohtarma. I was just kidding.

Anu's smile vanishes and she starts crying.

Anu - Why? Why can't we marry now? Why Anuj? Whyyyyyy?

She punches his shoulder like a small kid and sobs.

Anuj smiles down at his fiance. This has become something regular for him now. As she is pregnant, her mood swings mostly all the times. Now he is used to her mood swings. He finds it cute.

Anuj - Okay baba, we will marry soon. Alright? Now smile.

Anu instantly smiles.

But soon her smile turns into pain. She holds her stomach and gets off from his lap. Anuj notices the pain on her face and gets worried.

Anuj - Sweetheart what happened? Are you okay? Should I call the ambulance? Tell me Anu, you are worrying me now.

Anu - (Smiles brightly) ANUJ! GIVE ME YOUR HAND.

Anuj - (confused) What?

Anu - Just give me your hand.

She grabs his hand and puts it on her stomach. Confusion is written all over his face. But then.....

.
he feels something.

His face lits up like the Christmas when he feels the BABY KICK.

Anuj looks at anu with some tears in his eyes. The tears were of happiness and joy. The joy of feeling his baby for the first time. Suddenly the baby stops kicking. He bends down and  puts his ear on her stomach and speaks.

Anuj - Hey my baby. Hello, I am you daddy.

Hearing his voice the baby starts kicking again but this time it kicks really fast.

Anu - Oh my god. Our little champ is kicking too fast now. Maybe he/she likes daddy's voice.

Anuj nods his head and smiles.

That night was so special for both of them. As that night they heard their baby's first kick.
