Now with Marshall in the group, they went back into the mansion. They decided to catch any Boos from the rooms they went into before. Marshall with the Water Elemental Medal proved to help, as it was able to stop any Boos from escaping.

"So, the more Boos we catch. The more we weaken their power?" Marshall recapped what Luigi told him.

"That's correct. Hopefully, we'll be able to find the mastermind behind this haunted mansion," Luigi said.

"Well, the Boos did say their king wanted to do the same thing to you as they did to Mario," Blue mentioned.

Going to the Courtyard, was a simple cakewalk. The only type of ghosts that were present were Flying Fish, Ceiling Surprises (even though there were no ceilings), and Purple Bombers. As the one light went on, the quartet saw Toad climbing out of a well frantically.

"Toad? What's wrong?" Luigi asked as he helped him up.

"W-w-w-what I saw down the well. Was too scary," Toad started to cry over the sight of what he saw down there.

"What did you see down there, Toad?" Anna asked.

"You'll have to see for yourself."

Luigi and Co. carefully climbed down the well and found a secret pathway. At the end of the path was a hidden side of a lion statue. Luigi quietly poked his head through the teeth and the others tried their best to see what Luigi was seeing. On the other side was the Secret Altar, the lights were already on, but something did feel off.

"Can you see anything, Luigi?" Blue asked.

"No ghosts so far," Luigi replied.

But before Luigi could get down, sounds of grunting came from a wall in the Secret Altar. That was when Luigi could see four paintings, three of the same ones Mario saw. One of them had ice at the bottom, Luigi knew that was Elsa and the one to the left of Elsa's was Mario! She was trying to break free from her painting, but to no avail.

"Elsa, you've already tried, it's not working," Mario said.

"Do you think I know that, Mario?!" Elsa exclaimed before sighing, "I'm really worried about Anna. If she's here, she could be in danger. The same would go for Luigi."

Luigi then looked to the right and saw what the other two looked like. One was a man in a green-striped shirt. He knew that had to be Blue's owner Steve. The other was a husky puppy with a teal and yellow snow hat. That also had to be Everest.

"I just hope Blue is ok," Steve said, "If she's here, she might have found some help."

"Maybe with luck, she might have gotten Marshall and the rest of the PAW Patrol," Everest's stomach begin to growl a bit, "I don't know how much longer I can take being in here."

"Mamma mia. Somebody! Anybody! Get us outta heeeeere!" Mario screamed.

Luigi was shocked by the sight of it all. Mario and the others were trapped and suffering in those picture frames. The other three were able to see as Luigi got down and stepped back trembling.

"They're there," Anna said with a tear in her eye.

"At least I can relate to them," Marshall said, "Being stuck in a picture frame."

"Well, we need to do something," Blue replied, "We have to find out what room they're in and get them out! Right, Luigi?"

But when Blue, Anna, and Marshall turned around to find Luigi going back up to the Courtyard. Before they could follow him, a Ceiling Ghost got the scare on them, Marshall quickly stunned it and sucked it in his Poltergust 3000. A key dropped in its place, they took it and went back up.

Finding Luigi outside the Courtyard was easy. He was just sitting next to an old cabin down in the dumps. Marshall decided to approach the green-clad plumber.

"Luigi, are you alright...?" he asked sitting next to him.

"Not... really," he answered, "Seeing Mario and those people trapped hopelessly in the frames, felt too much. I don't want to lose my bro again!"

"Again? What do you mean?" Marshall wondered.

"Well... this isn't the first time I had to rescue Mario..."

Luigi told the others when he had to save Mario from the clutches of Tubba Blubba on their Star Spirit adventure. Even though he had more friends with him, he was still scared that Mario's game would end.

"Wow, I didn't know all that happened," Anna said as she and Blue heard the story too.

"I get it. But it's not like a lot of people know anyway," Luigi replied, "Everyone knows Mario in the Mushroom Kingdom. But almost no one even knows me. I'm always just treated as a second player. But don't let that part stop us from saving our loved ones."

"No! No! I get it!" Marshall spoke up, "I know how it feels to be outshined by someone else, even if I don't have any siblings. I've been such good friends with the other seven PAW Patrol pups. I always had a brother relationship with Chase, but he always gets the most credit when it comes to rescue missions. And it doesn't help that I'm a bit of an accident-prone, always tripping in the lookout tower. When I got the main lead on rescue missions, I felt like I was a different person! But then it faded away when it was over. But Chase told me that as long as I think about those I love, I'll know that I'm better than I think I am. So, if there's anyone that can save Mario and everyone else... it's you, Luigi."

Luigi felt better hearing this and smiled while hugging Marshall.

"Thanks, Marshall. That may be what I needed to hear."

"Don't mention it. Whenever you're in trouble. Just yelp for help. That's what Ryder always said."

After getting up, they went back to Anna and Blue. But something caught Luigi's eye when the birdhouse had something inside. When Luigi pulled his hand out, he found a piece of paper folded up. But the writing was all scribbled, whoever wrote this was clearly in a hurry.

"Can any of you read this?" Luigi asked handing the letter around.

"I can't read this," Blue said, "It's all scrambled."

"Maybe we could find someone that can translate it," Anna suggested.

Luigi agreed to this and put the note in his pocket. Using the key, the quartet went into the next room near the Courtyard.

End of chapter!

Marshall: Wow, I've just joined and I feel like it's close to the halfway point.

Me: We're getting close there. I hope you like the appearance of my extra trapped characters.

Luigi: Well, it felt good to at least see Mario again.
