"Koda just get on, you won't fall off. It will be fun!" Adrian begged for the tenth time trying to persuade his boy to throw his leg over this huge black horse.
Koda stood with wobbly legs on a mounting block next to Adrian's stallion. When the billionaire told the boy he would be riding horses today he thought riding on the same horse with Adrian. Although, Koda loved watching the horses from a far and looking at the beautiful, majestic creatures. He never in his life encountered a horse before, they where terrifying up close and unpredictable to say the least. Koda thought if he climbed on, the horse would just buck him off again even when the boy was standing on the floor he was scared to get close because the horses hoofs could easily crush his small feet.
"I... Cant." He choked out, tears glossed over his eyes as he looked pleadingly at Adrian.
Looking irritated, Adrian sighed, he dismissed one of the workers who was helping hold the horse, Adrian wanted Koda to get on the horse first so he could get on his own and start teaching Koda.
The black stallion neighed and tapped his foot impatiently, wanting to be out in the field. Adrian patted and hushed the horse as he gently pulled it into a barn stall and temporarily tied it up as he came back out to Koda.
"Jump down babe," He held Kodas hand as he helped him off the mounting block.
"I wanna go back inside." Koda sniffled.
"Hmm, I know. But, I said we were going to ride horses today and that's what we are going to do. Take a minute and compose yourself." Adrian quietly spoke to his boy.
He decided to take this opportunity to calm his own emotions. How can he be so scared of these animals!? Adrian, unlike Koda was raised with wealth, he rode horses from the moment he could walk. He didn't understand the boys fears.
As Adrian walked back to Koda, he could see him taking long deep breaths. Thankful that Koda was listening to him he smiled warmly at his boy. All Koda did was look away sadly which crushed Adrian's heart a little more.
Koda didn't understand why the horses were so important, he was beginning to dislike being so close to them. They smell bad and make lots of strange noises. The boy has learnt the hard way that all unpredictable things can not be trusted.
"Ok, so lets try something else, instead of getting you straight onto a horse lets lead the horse around the paddock out front." Adrian stood in the black stallions stall. Koda approached slowly,
"Why do we have to take the biggest one out?" He complained.
Adrian smiled warmly. "Because he might be the biggest but he is the most well behaved and gentle horse I own. I have reared him from a foal, he will be patient with you and mindful. Some of my other horses in here can be a little naughty and challenging. Just like you my boy, but for today I want a nice chill day, and Jack here is going to be the best for you. Arnt you Jack?" The man patted the horses rear.
"Trust me Koda. Please?" Adrian looks deeply into his boys eyes.
Koda looks away, why does he always have to do this? Be so kind and caring one minute and awful and scary the next. The boy felt a sickening pit in his stomach, mostly out of fear of the horse still but the turmoil Adrian is always pulling him through doesn't help.
Adrian lead Jack out of his stall once more.
"Stand at the side of him Koda, give him a pat," The deranged billionaire encouraged.
slowly, Koda crept to the side of the horse and placed a hand on his broad, thick shoulder. He felt his hand softly glide over the fine hairs of the slick black horse. Koda didn't expect him to feel as soft as he did.
