The next morning Adrians 6AM alarm woke him from his drunken slumber. His thoughts felt fuzzy, his throat scratchy and his body ached from being slumped over a desk all night. Slowing getting up, turning the phone alarm off, he made work to tidy his office space before getting a much needed hot shower, some Advil and a strong cup of coffee to figure out the day.
He sleepily sipped his coffee at the kitchen island for nearly an hour before he was interrupted. One of his security details informed him that Koda was up wandering around the second floor by himself.
Heaving a deep sigh, he knew he had to go find his Koda.
Koda woke early that morning to streams of sunlight bouncing into the room from the uncovered window. He stretched and yawned staying in bed for a while longer with his morning thoughts not knowing what else to do. He assumed he was locked in the room as that became the normal expectation for him. Since Koda has been in this demented version of hell he has never been left alone this long. It triggered his anxiety deeply. A sense of unease washed over his already intrusive, paranoid thoughts.
As time went on the boy began to get restless, after much consideration he decided to try and open the bedroom door. To his surprise it did open. It had not been locked the entire time he had been in the room.
Taking his opportunity he began to venture around the very quiet house. As he walked he would hear distant chatter or whispers from the people that worked and maintained the huge dwelling. he would see people formally dressed approach him with lowered heads hurriedly, It was as if no one dared to see or speak with the boy. The whole time Koda slowly walked up and down hallways and in the doors that opened his stomach kept flipping over and over, being eaten by the anxiety and possibility of being caught at any second.
Just as Koda turned a corner, he found the grand staircase with Adrian walking up the stairs almost at the top. The boy completely froze in his place. Adrian got to the top of the stairs and looked up to see a shell shocked boy with glossy wide eyes staring up at him.
The billionaire offered a sheepish smile and greeted him.
"Good morning Koda," Adrain's gruff morning voice broke out.
"I have not had any breakfast yet, just coffee. I am not sure if you remember, but the kitchen is down these stairs" Adrian turns to point at the stairs on the opposite side of the big open room.
"And to the left, if you press the buzzer on the wall next to the fridge the chef will come and take your breakfast order." Adrian paused to stare at his boy.
He longed to just pick him up, breathe in his scent and never let him go. But he knew he could not do that to him. He is a monster and he is the problem. He needs to change or this will never work for him. Swallowing thickly Adrian spoke again.
"I will be in my office most of the day if you need anything. The staff do not have permission to speak with you, although you are most welcome to ask them simple questions. They may not answer though and that is ok. Come and find me if you need anything at all Koda. I would like to speak to you soon, when you are ready you know where I will be." With that Adrain nods his head slightly and walks passed Koda.
It almost kills the man inside to sullenly walk away from his baby, his love. All Adrian ever wanted was to give Koda a better life, a life filled with happiness and love.
The young man barely contained a flinch when Adrian brushed passed so closely. He had to close his eyes and regain some self-control. Koda still stood motionless for several minutes after the billionaire had gone.He did decide to go and make himself some breakfast, he did not take the advice and bother a chef for his meal but found his own supplies to make himself scrambled eggs on toast. It was such a privilege for the boy to eat off of a normal plate, with a normal fork on a normal stall. The norm would usually be to be stuck in the highchair with plastic cutlery and plates with a closed top sippy cup.
