Unbeknown to Koda of Adrians previous actions the boy stayed low and out of the spot light for weeks. He resorted to stealing food, rummaging through restaurants trash cans just to get by. He wanted to leave the city. Get some distance.
What he really wanted was his mother. He hasn't stopped thinking about her. He wants his mother's love and embrace. He wants to be told everything is going to be ok and that he is loved and cared about. All the time he has been homeless Koda has never understood how the woman who bought him into this world can just turn her back on him. Mothers are supposed to love unconditionally.
Koda is in a very dark, scary place right now. His life doesn't feel as if it's worth living. This isn't a life he wishes anyone to live. With nothing to live for, no one will even notice if he dies tomorrow or today. He's no one. The amount of emotional turmoil the young boy is going through is tearing him apart. He's pathetic.Adrian quickly made his way into work for the first time all week. The night Adrian bought kodas life from the mafia he hasn't stopped working to put a plan in place to take Koda. He wanted to do it personally himself without involving his team or telling Matthew. He feared fucking it up. He knows Koda isn't by the book, he knows Koda isn't going to take this very well at all. Adrian will need all the help he can get.
There is no point in being a CEO if he doesn't utilise the tools he has in his belt.
The time has come with all the weeks worth of planning to break the news to his friend and company what the billionaire planned to do."Adrian! I haven't heard from you in weeks. What the hell have you been doing?" Matthew asks.
"I have been working from home. I need to call an emergency meeting with the manager from the pick up team, you and some of the coordinators that are going to the new community." Adrian says as he rushes around his office grabbing everything he needs.
"Are you going to help me or just stand there?" Adrian stood up straight to look at his partner.
"You have lost your mind." Matthew declares.
"What is going on? What's happened? Why do we need an emergency meeting? I thought everything was going well?" Matthew asks.
Adrian stops what he is doing with handfuls of documents in his hands,he walks over to his friend and looks at him desperately.
"I need your help Matt. I really, really need you on my side for this. Please, go and organise the meeting for me and I will explain everything to you. I'm asking you as my friend here. Please Matthew help me." The first time in their many years of friendship with Adrians alpha personality he has never once asked for help. He has never once looked so desperate and in need.
It put Matthew on edge. His anxiety spiked at seeing such a powerful, dominant man look so frazzled.
With no more words exchanged Matthew left to organise the meeting.
As Matthew left Adrians phone went off on his desk. He put the paperwork down and answered the ringing.
"Mr. Pennington." He answers.
"Hi Mr. Pennington my names Andrea from CPS. I'm giving you a call as you recently filed custody paperwork to the courts for a mr. Koda wiles. I'm calling to let you know they have awarded you custody of the minor. As I am aware he is currently homeless right now. Are you in regular contact with him?" Andrea from CPS asks.
Waves of relief flood Adrian at hearing these words. He can't believe it actually worked!"Yes of course thank you for calling me. I am in regular contact with him. Now I have legal custody I am going to bring him to my country home a few hours away from New York. I'll happily send you over details and updates if needed. I am just so happy I am able to get him off of the streets and get him the help he needs." Adrian breathes.
"Certainly Mr. Pennington. You have done a wonderful thing here. I shouldn't need anything from you. I will close the report and sign off that I agree custody lays with you. You shall get some letters in the post in the next few days. If in the meantime you need help please don't hesitate to call." Andrea states.
"Thank you. Take care now." Adrian hangs up.
He is filled with confidence this is going to work. If his team can not or will not collect him he now knows the police will have no worries in bringing the boy to him. He is legally kodas parent now.
For anyone in the community hearing this is like music to their ears. It's what everyone with a forced little wants to hear. It's unfortunate not many hear that news with all of the individuals that are taken being adults.
With a fresh new found confidence Adrian strides into his meeting with hope by the weekend Koda will finally be his.
