As promised, Koda had a small bedroom set up for him, a double bed, bedside table, a single walk in closet with a standard bathroom attached to the room. Kodas new room faced the front of the house, he could see the long winding gravel driveway and the big gate house with the iron gates from his room. there truly was nothing else surrounding the house. No neighbors, no people... nothing.
Will Koda ever actually see anything ever again besides this oversized home? He stayed in that room for the remainder of the day, with no TV or food after he explored every nook and cranny of the room he slept most of the afternoon and night away. The small window he had to look through at the view of the front of the house did not open at all, it was for show. This didn't make a difference to the boys feelings, even if it did open he wouldn't be able to leave or jump out of it. The jump would break his ankles, and for what? he would still be trapped by the gate house and the army of trees and fences surrounding the property. He knew there was no point, for all intense and purposes he could walk out the front door yet, he still wouldn't be able to leave the property.Koda knew Adrian was right, he has no where else to go, does that really mean he has to accept this fate? This life that has consumed his soul. It will kill him, no matter what the rich arrogant man says. Koda knows it has already destroyed his spirit. His heart still beats but, he is dead on the inside and has been for a very long time. Even before he got to this delusional slice of hell. His whole
Life has been one miserable event after another. There has been many times Koda thinks of his orthodox Christian mother and the moment he told her the truth. It was as if he pulled a gun out and shot her in the chest. He will never forget the hurt, grief stricken look on her face, it haunted him and always will. He can still hear her tears, sobs begging him to tell her it is not true, pleading him to go to the conversion camps. The way she grabbed him, asking him to seek forgiveness, to still be able to go to heaven with her. Koda couldn't. He fell in love with a boy, its who he is. Nothing could ever change that. it was his turn to cry, to beg his mother for acceptance. He never got it. His father was the one that threw him out. Told him he could not live in a household with someone like Koda. The last things he ever said to his parents as he walked out the door were ' I guess ill see you in hell then' whilst his mother sobbed her heart out, but never begged her husband to let him stay, never fought for Koda. After the boy that forced Koda to tell his parents found out what happened he soon lost interested and told Koda he couldn't support him anymore. He didn't want a high school drop out homeless boyfriend. After a while Koda got over it. He was not ashamed of being gay. Every now and again the traumatizing memories creep in and get harder and harder to forget about, especially with everything that has happened in such a quick span of time.
How he wishes to just go back and live in secret again, with his happy religious family. His doting mother and proud father. Would that make him happy? or would him be as miserable as he is now? Having to live in a world where he does not fit in.
True to his word, Adrian left the young man alone to his own devices. He made Max check in on him every day. The house he lived in made it very easy to not cross paths, besides Adrian mostly worked and lived in his office. If he was not in his office or the gym he was in the town working from his building. A routine came quickly for Adrian. He acted as if Koda was never even there. It destroyed him, tore him apart. Every single morning, every single night he had to fight with his own will power not to take control of his boy, to Adrian Koda will always be his boy. But he promised, Adrian never went back on a promise it is his turn to live in torture for a while even if he doesnt feel like he can last.
What also made it easier for the men to not cross paths was; Koda never left his room. Maxwell checked on him once a day but Koda secured everything he needed to never need to leave his room. He demanded a tv, a games console and three meals a day with snacks enabling him to hide away in his own comfortable prison cell.
The days soon turned into weeks which turned into months, things were beginning to reach a stalemate. Adrian worked himself to exhaustion and koda kept himself in his room all hours of the day.
Maxwell was stuck in the middle, he would report to his boss every evening, with the same report. Koda didn't want to be bothered. Koda didn't do anything today. Every single day. Maxwell was stuck and although the two stubborn men could go on like this Maxwell couldn't take much more.
"This has got to stop. This can not go on much longer, sir." Maxwell barged into Adrian's office late one evening.
Adrian was on the phone, he looked up calmly but curious at his employees outburst.
"I'll call you back later, Henry." Adrian hung up, and looked questioningly at Max.
"Are you requesting to work else where?" Adrian curtly asks.
Max looks bewildered, and a little offended.
"No! I am not asking to work somewhere else! I'm telling you, you need to do something." Max insists sitting on the edge of the big armchair in front of Adrian's desk.
"You can't live like this much longer sir, it's been two months. Your staff are complaining about the..." Maxwell pauses thinking about his choice of words.
"About the state of kodas room, the cleaners are refusing to go into the room. He never leaves the room sir, it is a mess, clothes everywhere, trash covering the floor. The bathroom, just the same. If you leave it for any longer the boys room will need to be condemned." Maxwell looks straight at Adrian.
"Do something about this. Or I will do it for you." Max did not wait for a response. He stood up and left the room, leaving Adrian's office door wide open.
The billionaire watched Maxwell storm out of the room with the same curiosity he had when the man first entered the room.
For a few minutes he sat in silence contemplating what was just said.
Should he really go to Koda?
After promising him he would wait for Koda to come to him...
He knows he can't go back on his promise, but if the room is as bad as Maxwell states some intervention will be needed. Maybe Maxwell should step in, Adrian contemplates as he stands to pace up and down his office floor.
He has created a whole enterprise, a whole community programme for wealthy individuals just like him who share the same interests and want the same lifestyle he wants. He has all the resources he could ask for to help combat this issue, yet his pride is not only damaging him but his helpless boy too.
Every time he goes into a meeting, every time a particularly difficult case comes his way he is so close to asking for advice for his own difficult situation. Yet he feels responsible. He bought this on himself.
Adrian is haunted by his own traumas. Every time he thinks about all the damage he's done to that young boy his old partner, Matthews voice rings in his ears.
I told you, you're ruining him.
You have destroyed that boy just like you did jack, Mitchel.
This is all your fault.
Adrian couldn't cope with his self deprecating thoughts anymore. He decided to go to his home gym and drown his sorrows with a work out instead of a bottle of whiskey like he has been doing lately. It was a more productive way to clear his mind instead of clouding it. He knows things are at a breaking point once more. He can not run from this issue with a bottle of Jamesons finest.
The long session in the gym left Adrian a sweaty, exhausted mess, as he got to his own abode he had to resist the urge to collapse on his king size, oak sleigh bed. He dragged himself to his spacious bathroom for a lengthy, steamy shower. He did feel better, refreshed and his mind clearer.
There was a time six months ago, Adrian didn't think twice about asking his company for help with koda. Although that feels different to the dominant man now. He was asking for help capturing the boy. How is this going to reflect on him now he's coming crawling for help because things have gone terribly wrong?
He destroyed his best friend, his only friend that truly understood him. The only one that had been through this with him before. He is precisely making the same mistakes again. He hates himself for this. He thought all this time, things could be different.
Jack learned to love him, though it drove the previous man clinically insane. Adrian can't help but fear the exact same is happening to koda.
He promised.
Promised to wait for koda to come to him.
"I'm such a fucking idiot." Adrian sighs as he climbs into bed.
He's determined to fix this. Without breaking his promise to koda. He will help him. He can not fail another one.
No doubt about it he will fix this.
With a vague plan playing out in his mind, the deflated dominant went to sleep.
Tomorrow, a new day.
Adrian woke at his normal time early hours the next morning. Following his stringent routine he left the house to head into his office for a routine weekly meeting. He felt refreshed, in a nice new navy blue suit and tie he felt more himself than he has in a long while.
The last few months he has been online having the same meetings in desperate hope his boy would come and seek him out.
After the reality check from Maxwell last night he knows that isn't going to happen without help. So into the office he goes.
As he steps off of the elevator he greets the receptionist at the desk.
"Good morning, Olivia, how are things this morning?" Adrian smiles, signing in on the little iPad on the front desk with his key card.
Olivia, the young girl at the desk looks shocked to see her boss, he hasn't been seen in months. Like a deer in headlights she stands to greet him.
"Oh uh good morning Sir! We wasn't expecting you this morning." She fumbles a little with her words.
"Yes. I know. Is that going to be a problem?" Adrian leans against the reception desk and raises a brow.
Looking a little sheepish the girl was quick to reassure.
"No no, not at all Sir, can I get you a coffee?" She smiles.
"Please do. Bring it to the meeting room for me." He smirks at her discomfort and saunters off behind her as she flusters to get the coffee.
Adrian walks into a busy conference room, everyone was getting set up to start. One of his managing employees standing at the front of the room, in-front of a white board ready to give a PowerPoint presentation. Everyone turns to look at their boss.
"Good morning everyone." Adrian greets happily.
After the initial shocked looks everyone greets Adrian.
Sebastian, the manager about to give the presentation offers Adrian his place to lead the meeting.
"You're fine Seb," Adrian sits at the end of the round table and opens his laptop.
"Continue, please." Adrian instructs with a wave of his hand as he logs in readying himself for the meeting.
Clearing his throat Sebastian starts the meeting clearly uncomfortable with his bosses abrupt appearance this morning.
Adrian enjoys the squirming feeling of his employees. It certainly made his morning. He thinks he should surprise them more often. He needed the confidence boost this morning.
Leaning back in his chair, getting comfortable he sits quietly listening to how well his company is working this week.
