Y/N

I did not sleep that well last night, due to the fact that I was so nervous for the interview today. As I am heading out, my mother stops me and insists that I eat my breakfast first. With an apology, I decline and settle on drinking the Turkish coffee she made for me. I am still living with my mom until I can save up enough money to rent my own apartment. That is why it is so important that this interview is successful.

When I arrive, a woman brings me to the fourth floor waiting room. There are some other women there of all age groups. I sit next to another girl around my age. "Benim adım Y/N. Asistan pozisyonu için buradayım. Sen?," I ask her. She smiles and replies, "Benim adım Nihan. Ben de röportaj için buradayım." Just then, another woman opens up one of the office doors and calls my name. I look at Nihan with hopeful eyes and she gives me a thumbs up. As I walk into the room, I am met with a table filled with seven stern looking faces. In front of each person is a name plate. As I look at each one, my eyes become wide when I see the name of the man sitting in the middle. Kaan Urgancıoğlu. I sit down in the chair in the middle of the room. "Miss Y/N, that is your name right?," Mr. Urgancıoğlu asks without looking up from the papers in front of him. Before I can even answer, the lady to the right of him, Ms. Aydin, asks another question, "How did find out about this job opportunity?" I am suddenly struck with the idea that maybe they don't like people who got here through connections. Hesitantly, I reply, "My economics professor informed me about the position and helped me to register for the interview." "Your economics professor...so you have just graduated college?" Mr. Cetin asks. I nod my head, to nervous to speak. Mr. Urgancıoğlu sighed deeply, his head still down, and says, "Fresh out of college. In that case, what makes you think you are ready for such an important job?" My breathing hitches and I stall on responding. My delay irritates Mr. Urgancıoğlu, and he snaps his head up. Our eyes lock and the look of frustration on his face quickly changes to one of shock. I feel intimidated under his gaze, so I look away at the other members of the board. They are all looking at me with deadpan expressions. Never in my life have I wanted to be invisible more than now. After what feels like ages, Mr. Urgancıoğlu clears his throat and asks again, "What makes you feel qualified for this job?" "To be honest, I feel like my education and determination to be the best I can be are about the only two things that make me qualified. If that is not good enough for you, then I apologize for wasting your time," I say with a sudden confidence in my tone. Mr. Urgancıoğlu raises an eyebrow and slightly smirks. Then he says, "We will be in touch with you Miss Y/N. Please go out the way you came in." My nervousness takes over me again and I mentally slap myself for talking so boldly to my possible boss. After I walk out the room, Nihan raises her eyebrows in anticipation of how my interview went. I tell her about how it went, and she reassures me that my confidence will most likely aid me in possibly getting the position. I laugh and ask, "Neden bu kadar destekleyici oluyorsun? Siz de pozisyon almaya çalışıyorsunuz." It is now her who laughs, and she just tells me that getting the job does not mean as much to her as it seems to mean to me. I thank her for her kindness and wave goodbye.
