Y/N

Even though I did not want to, Ms. Yavuz instructed me to attend the annual meeting of Urgancıoğlu Teknolojileri's biggest investors. "I do not care about the relationship you and Mr. Urgancıoğlu have outside of work. However, despite your personal feelings towards each other, you are still his personal assistant. Therefore, it is part of your job description to attend these types of events," Ms. Yavuz told me sternly. I begrudgingly agreed to go to the event with Mr. Urgancıoğlu.

"Girl don't think too much about it. Just go to the event, eat all their food, and come back to your bed," Defne says to me without much thought. I laugh at her calmness concerning the matter. "It's not that easy Defne. Things are already tense between Mr. Urgancıoğlu and I, and now I have to represent the company with him to people I don't even know. I'm really nervous," I complain to her as I pull the dress I rented over my head. Looking at me pitifully she replies, "How about this then? I will stay here and wait for you to return, since your mom is away. That way, if anything bad happens, you can come back and have me to talk to." I thank her for the offer but decline it and tell her that I should be fine. She looks at me before saying, "Whatever makes you feel better, but if anything happens, you'd better at least message me." I nod and give her a big hug. Just then, there is a knock at the door. My heartbeat quickens as I remember that Mr. Urgancıoğlu is going to be driving the both of us to the venue. I dash down the stairs, with Defne following close behind. As I open the door, my body freezes. There, on the other side of the door, is Mr. Urgancıoğlu. He is dressed in a navy-blue suit, with a crisp, white, button up shirt underneath. His dark, wavy hair is parted to the side and combed very neatly. "Are you ready to leave Miss Y/N?", he asks coldly. His words snap me out of my thoughts, and I nod my head. Before leaving, I turn around and tightly hug Defne. "I'll be here if you need me," she whispers in my ear. I smile at her and wave goodbye as I walk out of the house.

The entire ride to the venue is dead silent, aside from the one time when Mr. Urgancıoğlu instructed me to stay right next to him at the event. When we arrive, the valet takes Mr. Urgancıoğlu's car keys and drives the car away to the parking area. A man opens the door to the building as we walk towards him. "Good evening Mr. Urgancıoğlu," the man says. Mr. Urgancıoğlu acknowledges him and lightly places his hand on the small of my back in order to guide me forward. The minute we walk into the main area, I hear a man call out Mr. Urgancıoğlu's name and rushes towards us. "Good evening, Mehmet," Mr. Urgancıoğlu says with a smile. The two men do that whole bro-hugging thing and continue to make small talk. "The investors are here to discuss some things with you Kaan," Mehmet says as he glances towards me. Mr. Urgancıoğlu nods at his statement and turns towards me. He pulls me to him by my waist and looks at me deeply. I am shocked by his action and feel completely uncomfortable. "Let go of me Mr. Urgancıoğlu. People will talk," I say through a strained smile, as I look around the area. Mr. Urgancıoğlu ignores my statement and tells me to go and talk to the other ladies, while he talks with the investors. I furrow my eyebrows and ask, "Wasn't I supposed to go to the meeting with you?" "You'll get your fill of the meeting when it's time to eat. Now go and be with the other ladies," he replies firmly. With that, he walks away with Mehmet, towards another groups of men. I begin to shake slightly as I make my way towards a group of women. When I reach them, one of the women looks me over and asks, "Whose woman are you?" I am taken aback by her question and stutter a reply, "N-no ones." She snickers and says, "Oh come on dear, all of us here belong to one of those scoundrels. Mine is that fatso over there." My eyes follow her finger to a slightly short man whose suit buttons seems like they are about to pop off of his coat due to his belly causing the coat to almost bust open. "I work for Mr. Urgancıoğlu, so I am here to represent the company with him. That's all," I inform her. She snickers again and says, "Whatever you say." I ignore her comment and introduce myself. After, the rest of the women introduce themselves and show me who they came with. A few minutes later, a man comes out of another room and rings a bell. Immediately after, everyone begins walking towards the room the man came out of. "See you later Y/N," the main lady tells me before her date takes her with him to the room. I anxiously look around for Mr. Urgancıoğlu. I about to just walk towards the room with everyone else, when I feel a hand touch my back. Looking to the side of me, I see Mr. Urgancıoğlu. When we enter the room, I realize that it is a dining room, with two long tables. Mr. Urgancıoğlu directs me to one of the tables and pulls out a chair for me. I say an almost in audible thank you as I sit down. He sits down in the chair to the right of me. To my left is an older man. His hair is snow white, which is a major contrast to his heavily sun-kissed skin. Everyone sits in silence as a man sits in the last chair at the head of the table Mr. Urgancıoğlu and I are sitting at. "Welcome everyone. Thank you so much to all of Urgancıoğlu Teknolojileri's investors for attending this evening's meeting. Now that work is out of the way, let us enjoy this meal as friends," the man says to everyone. After his speech, he sits down in his chair. Once he is settled, everyone begins to talk again and eat their food. The older man seated next to me, asks the man at the head of the table if he plans on retiring anytime soon. The man at the head of the table laughs and replies cheerfully, "I have been thinking about retirement, but the person I want to be my successor seems hesitant to take on my role as president of the company." I suddenly feel Mr. Urgancıoğlu's hand tightly grab my right thigh. The action causes me to choke slightly on my water. As I look at Mr. Urgancıoğlu, I can see immense anger in his eyes. Just then, I hear the man at the head of the table ask Mr. Urgancıoğlu, "Have you thought about my proposition Kaan?" Mr. Urgancıoğlu tightens his hold on my thigh as he looks at the man and replies sternly, "No sir. I have not." The man snickers mockingly and retorts, "Stop being so hesitant Kaan. You should consider yourself lucky to be offered such a high position in the company." "I like where I'm at sir," Mr. Urgancıoğlu says calmly. "You're a glutton for punishment Kaan," the man replies in a firmer tone. Frustrated, Mr. Urgancıoğlu aggressively pushes back his chair and tells the man that he is going to leave before he says something he will regret. He then tells me to follow him. I quickly stand up from the table and rush after him. After the valet retrieves the car, we get in and drive away from the venue. I really want to ask Mr. Urgancıoğlu what all that was about, but I am too scared to. Instead, I take out my phone and begin texting Defne.

Y/N: Something very weird happened.

Defne: What happened? Are you ok?

Y/N: I'm fine, but Mr. Urgancioglu is very upset. The president of the company is pushing him to take over the position. It doesn't seem like he wants it. The man is very persistent, in the worse way.

Defne: That doesn't sound good.

Before I can respond, Mr. Urgancıoğlu says, "Stop texting your friend about your concerns and tell me instead." His statement causes me to feel like a child who is has been caught red handed by their parent. "Why don't you want to be the president of the company?", I ask slowly. "Because if I am the president, I will not have a life outside of work. I already am working ten hours a day; I am not ready for anymore," he says. I nod and ask, "Aside from being your boss, what makes that man qualified to talk to you in such a way?" After a moment of silence, he replies, "Because he's my father."
