Sakusa woke to birds chirping outside his bedroom window. The sound of footsteps could be heard from somewhere in the hallway, but he remained on his bed with his eyes tightly closed. He wasn't going to get up yet, no matter how many times someone knocked on his door to inform him that the sun had risen, after awhile they would give up and leave him alone. After all when Sakusa didn't want to do something no one could make him do it, and right now he didn't want to get up.
Just as Sakusa was dozing off again the door to his room opened with a bang and a cheerful voice echoed off the walls. " Hello oh dear cousin of mine." Sakusa's cousin Kamori sang happily. "Hope you got the proper amount of beauty rest cause we're going for a ride today."
Sakusa blinked up at the boy blearily, before grabbing his pillow and covering his head. " Goooo awaaaayyy" He goaned closing his eyes and trying to make Kamori leave using only will power. Unfortunately his will power wasn't strong enough and his cousin grabbed his foot dragging him off the bed and onto the floor, where he then grabbed the pillow away and threw it across the room.
" Up you get Kiyoomi" Kamori said cheerfully before pulling open the drapes and letting light flood into the room through the clear glass of the window. " Today won't last forever you know" With that the cheerful boy exited the room letting the door fall shut behind him with a loud bang that made Sakusa flinch.
For a moment the young man just lay on the floor, regretting his desision to let his cousin have full access to any room in the palace. He should have known this would happen, after all his cousin wasn't exactly known for his nice, calm nature. Even Sakusa's parents the king and queen called the boy a walking ball of energy, and they themselves were rarely anything less then cheerful.
Sighing Sakusa slowly pushed himself to his feet, there was no point in trying to sleep forever, his cousin was right about that much, besides sleeping on the floor was unsanitary. Rubbing his eyes he slowly made his way into his bathroom, preparing to go about his daily morning routine.
First he brushed his teeth staring at his face in the mirror and wishing for more sleep. Then he washed his face, dropping his towel on the sink when he was done, someone else would come deal with it when he was gone. Then he exited the bathroom wandering back into his room and over to his closet.
He quickly got dressed in an outfit that would be comfortable for horse riding, after all his cousin had said they were going for a ride, and when he used those words it somehow never meant in a car. Besides Kamori loved horseback riding and loved dragging Sakusa along with him even more.Sakusa himself had long since gotten used to his cousins pushiness, and knew not to argue with him. He would always end up doing what he was told anyways.
Sighing Sakusa glanced at himself in the mirror one last time, giving his reflection a sad pitying look, before making his way out of his room and towards the seemingly never ending staires that lead to the Palaces front door.
After several minutes of walking down flight after flight of stairs he made it to the first floor, running directly into his mother, who was carrying an arm full of letters. The envelope's made a rustling noise as they fell to the floor, resting gentley on the marble tiles. " Oh!" Sakusa's mother said bending down to pick them up, and shooing away the servant that quickly rushed to her aid. " No, No! I can do it myself." She insisted gathering up the few remaining envelope's left on the floor into her arms.
" Sorry Mom" Sakusa said bending down to help his mother to her feet. " I wasn't looking were I was going."
" Oh No dear" She said stacking the letters into a neat pile. " It wasn't your fault. Besides I was looking for you anyways." She thrust the letters into her sons arms as if happy to be rid of the papers. " These are for you."
Sakusa raised an eyebrow looking down at the letters in confusion. " Who are they from."
"Oh just about..." she gently tapped her finger on her chin as if thinking. " Say every eligible young lady in the kindom."
" What! Why!" Sakusa yelled, not realizing how much his tone had escalated until he heard his shout echo off of the tall ceilings.
" Well don't go yelling at me" His mother said sternly, placing her hands on her hips. " Your father sent out a notice to the whole Kingdom saying you were looking for someone to marry and settle down with."
Sakusa felt a glare forming on his face. " But mom, I don't want to get married."
" I know." his mother said putting her hands up in exasperation. " I tried to talk your father out of it, but he wouldn't listen, going on about how your getting older and how you need to find yourself a nice girl, so you can take his place on the throne."
Crossing his arms Sakusa let out a noise some were between a whine and a groan. His mother patted his shoulder comfortingly, straighting his crooked jacket. " Well what's done is done." She said with a sigh. " You'll just have to deal with it for now. After all you are a Prince and the only heir to the throne. Now why don't you tell me were you were going just now."
" I know mom" Sakusa said fighting back his exasperation. " I was going to go meet Kamori to go horse back riding."
His mother smiled softly reaching up and straighting a loose strand of his hair. " Alright then." She said. " You go on now and have fun. I'll just put these letters in your room for you to look at later." She gave him a quick peck on the forehead before heading up the stairs for his room.
Sakusa watched her for a moment before turning and making his way towards the palace door. He didn't want to get married, but it was his duty to the kingdom. He had known this day would come, he just hadn't expected it to be so quick. He had wanted to live for awhile, before he had to settle with some random girl from a random noble family, but it looked like he had no choice but to follow his fathers orders.

" Why the long face" Komori asked slowing his horse so it was walking next to Sakusa's. " I know you don't like to leave your room, but you never pout for this long."
" Nothing" Sakusa said, shooting his cousin a dirty look. " And I never pout."
" Sure you don't" His cousin said with a chuckle. " abut seriously what's up."
" I told you, its nothing" Sakusa said dryly kicking his horse into a gallop before his cousin could reply. For a moment he felt better, as the wind flew against his face and through his hair. It was nice to ride, but he would never tell Kamori that.
For a long time he just rode through the trees letting the wind wipe back his hair, and the smell of the pine trees overwhelm his senses. Until he realized that Kamori hadn't caught up to him yet. Pulling back on the reigns Sakusa looked around in confusion. Where had the little ball of annoying run off to this time. Maybe it was one of his pranks, perhaps he was planning on jumping out from behind and tree and scaring Sakusa, that was a very Kamori like thing to do. " Kamori" He called loudly. " Your not going to scare me, so come out so we can keep going on the trail."
No answer, OK so he was seriously trying to scare him. Well it wasn't going to work. A rustling came from somewhere behind Sakusa and then something leaped from a nearby bush and directly onto the trail. Sakusa screamed.
Kamori blinded at him for a moment looking shocked and little scared. " Sakusa there's a boy in the clearing over there" He said urgently, his eye's wide with panic. " He's knocked out and won't wake up, he has a couple scratched on his arms and his cloths are all dirty."
Ussally Sakusa wouldn't have belived his cousin but the panic in his eyes told him that this was real. " Show me" He said, pulling on his horse's rein and following his cousin into the trees at a quick pace.
They made it to the clearing surprisingly quickly and Sakusa didn't even have time to think about why his cousin had wandered off in the first place, when he saw the boy. He was lying the the grass, his golden hair tangled in leaves and pine needles, his eyes were closed and there was a small cut on his cheek.
Sakusa dismounted his horse handing the reigns to his cousin before slowly making his way over to the boy, bending down in front of him. He was breathing, that was a good sign. Sakusa turned slowly to his cousin being careful not to touch the strange boy, after all who knows were he's been. " I think he's al-."
The boy let out a groan grabbing his head and whimpering slightly. " What happened?" Slowly the boy opened his eyes and looked at Sakusa, blinking in confusion. " Who are you?"
Sakusa's breath caught in his throat, and his heart beat sped up. This boy was gorgeous, with golden hair falling onto his forhead, pale skin scattered with light freckles, but what really caught Sakusa's attention were the boys eye's, which looked like fallen drops of sunlight. When Sakusa had let Kamori drag him out on a ride today he hadn't been expecting to find an angel.
