Sakusa ran his hands through his hair staring at his own face in the mirror. He had dark circles under his eyes from staying up the whole night. Atsumu had cried for an hour, and when the tears had stopped he had asked Sakusa to stay with him until he fell asleep. It hadn't even been twenty minutes before gentle snores were being admitted from the blonde, but Sakusa couldn't bring himself to leave, flashes of his crying face planting his feet to the floor. No, Leaving the boy alone would have only made things worse. Still he probably should have gotten some sleep. Now he felt like he has been dragged behind a galloping horse.
Sighing he backed away from the mirror, grabbed a nearby towel off the sink, and drying off his still wet hair. How was Atsumu doing now? Was it really okay for Sakusa to leave him this long? Kamori was with him, but he wasn't the smartest. Would he be able to calm Atsumu down if he started crying again, after all Kamori wasn't the sensitive type. Sakusa shouldn't have left. Walking out of his bathroom, he made a beeline for his closet, grabbing a random outfit and throwing it on. He checked once to make sure he looked decent, if his father were to see him wearing something mismatched or ugly he would surely scold him. His father had been raised to always look Kindly, and now he was attempting to raise Sakusa the same way, despite how uniterested his son seemed to be. Exiting his room Sakusa headed for the palace Kitchen were he had left Atsumu sitting with Kamori.
He desended the long spiral steps as quickly as he could without running, earning himself some weird looks from passing servents. It was a well known fact that Sakusa didn't like to appear to be rushing, so this was a rare sight in deed. Still Sakusa paid this no mind and continued until he reached the second floor, were Sakusa's personal kitchen was. He stopped in front of the door, smoothing down his hair, and catching his breath. For some reason he didn't want Atsumu or his cousin to know he had ran. That would just be to humiliating for him to handle, especially if he added Kamori's stupid mocking laugh into the mix.
After making sure he looked normal, and not like he had run a marathon, there were a lot of stairs in the palace so even jogging down them would leave someone winded, he opened the door. Atsumu sat casually at one of the tables talking with Kamori as if they were old friends. From a distance he looked normal, but when Sakusa got closer he could see the red splotches that ringed his eyes, the only indication that the he had cried in the last twenty-four hours.
Atsumu looked up when Sakusa entered, and a sheepish smile formed on his lips. "Hey." He said cheerfully giving Sakusa a small wave.
"Hi" Sakusa said, sitting down next to his cousin and doing his best to keep his mouth from curving into a smile. "How are you feeling?"
Atsumu turned his head to the side, looking embarrassed. " Better." He didn't really sound better, but Sakusa decided not to press the matter and make things worse again. "I'm sorry about waking you up so late" Atsumu continued the guilt clear in his voice. " And then making you stay with me all night."
"It wasn't any trouble" Sakusa said, " Besides if i didn't want to stay I could have sent someone else in to watch you and gone back to my room."
" Really?" Atsumu asked with a reluctant expression.
Sakusa opened his mouth to respond but Kamori spoke before he could. " Its true." He said in a tone that was much to energetic for so early in the morning. " If it was anybody else Sakusa wouldn't have even come to check on them, but he did for you. Probably because he li- Ow" He trailed off, dramatically slumping to the floor when Sakusa hit him hard over the head. " Why would you hit me?"
Sakusa didn't respond as he watched his cousin roll around on the floor in mock agany, clutching onto his head. He hadn't hit him that hard, Kamori was just being over dramatic. He looked up to tell Atsumu so, but stopped in his tracks upon seeing the blondes face. He was laughing, a real genuine laugh that Sakusa hadn't heard before but suddenly loved so much that he didn't know how he would live without it. For a moment Atsumu continued to giggle, before getting up to help the now pouting Kamori off the floor.
Kamori groaned dramically drapping himself over his chair, as if he was minutes from death. " You are truly a monster Kyoomi" He said, placing a hand on his forehead. " I never thought that you would wound me like this"
Atsumu snorted, giving Kamori an amused look. " Don't be like that." He said brushing some of hair golden yellow hair from his eyes. " Sakusa is in no way a monster, after all he's letting me stay here at the palace, no monster would do that would they."
Kamori paused, looking Sakusa up and down before letting his head fall back on the chair in defeat. " I suppose not."
Atsumu laughed again and Sakusa was forced to turn away, to hide the blush that was working its way up his neck. Why did the blonde look so pretty when laughing. No, why did Atsumu look so pretty all the time, even when he had been crying Sakusa couldn't help but think how beautiful the blonde had looked. He coughed slightly, trying to banish the thought from his mind, when a Maid approched him setting a small cup down in front of him.
Atsumu stopped laughing, giving the cup a curious look. " What's that" He asked.
" Coffee" Sakusa replied, turning back around to face the table. " I drink it every morning."
" Oh, can I try it." he asked, reaching across the table and taking the cup without waiting for a reply.
" No wait Atsumu don't" Kamori cried, reaching out to grab for the cup, but it was to late. Atsumu had already taken a drink. Sakusa watched in bewilderment as the blonde's face twisted in disgust, and Kamori's hand dropped to the table a look of defeat on his face. " Sakusa...drinks...his coffee....black."
Atsumu gagged, focing himself to swallow his mouthful of the drink. Then he just sat in stunned silence for several seconds before, " That...was the single most disgusting thing....I've ever tasted." he said slowly, brushing away small tears that had formed in his eyes upon tasting the gastly drink.
Sakusa reached forward, taking the drink from Atsumu's hand and placing it down in front of him. He then gestured to a nearby maid, whispering something in her ear. All the while Atsumu was trying to wipe off his tounge with a napkin, his face still twisted in disgust.
Kamori reached over patting the blonde on the back, a pitying look on his face. " It will pass soon don't worry." He said. " I don't like coffee either, especially the way Sakusa drinks it."
Sakusa sighed, reaching down and taking a sip of his drink. He didn't see anything wrong with it, but maybe his tastbuds were just different then the two boys in front of him.
They sat in silence for awhile, until the maid from before returned carrying a plate of something which she sat down in front of Atsumu, who gave them a confused look.
" They're for you." Sakusa said simply, handing the boy a fork and butter knife. " I thought you would like pancakes better then my coffee."
Atsumu looked down at the food and then back at Sakusa. " What are those dots in them."
" Chocolate chips"
Atsumu poked the pancake, before taking a small piece and setting it in his mouth. He chewed and swallowed slowly, and then a giant grin broke out on his face. " This is delicious" He said, smiling a smile that made Sakusa's heart hammer in his chest. A smile that could have only been sent from heaven.( Authors note: Hi, thanks for reading.
