Authors note: I have recently been made aware that I was spelling Komori wrong with an A instead of an O, but I will do my best to fix this error from here on out.
Atsumu glanced at Sakusa out of the corner of his eye, feeling uncomfortable and unsure of himself. In front of him the strange woman was looking at his face, closely examining his features. She walked around him with her hand on her chin, her brows turned down in concentration, with her face much to close to Atsumu's own. He wanted to move away, but felt that it wouldn't be the wisest decision to do so. After all this woman was the Queen, as well as Sakusa's mother, he couldn't risk offending her.
Atsumu flinched as the woman suddenly backed away, clicking her tounge in a curious sort of way. " How old are you?" She asked, finally looking up to meet Atsumu's nervous gaze.
" I- I don't remember" He said quietly, feeling slightly ashamed of himself. He should at least know his own age, but no matter how much he strained his brain, it remained a blank void with nothing but his own name, and the foggy memory of last nights bad dream. " I-i'm sorry."
The woman gave Atsumu a pitying look. " Don't apologize dear, its not your fault. I shouldn't have asked. Forgive me, I can't help but be interested in the boy that my cold son has taken such a liking to."
Atsumu felt his cheeks heat up and he looked down at the lovely marble floors beneath his feet. Next to him Sakusa let out a strangled. " Mooooommmm." Before releasing an embarrassed cough, covering his blushing face with his right hand. " I'm just trying to help him, that's all. Nothing more then that."
The Queen gave her son a wry smile, before squeezing Atsumu's shoulder. "Of course, of course." She placed her hand against the side of her mouth and whispered in Atsumu's ear. " He's not a very good liar is he?"
Atsumu swallowed, looking down at his hands and feeling awkward, he had a feeling that most people weren't used to these types of situations. The queen laughed, once again patting Atsumu's shoulder before making her way out of the hall, wiggling her eyebrows at Sakusa as he left. The young prince gave his mother a shocked look, before shaking his head and letting out a deep sigh. " Just ignore her," He said, his voice coated with embarrassment. " She likes to pick on people. I think it fuels her life force or something."
Atsumu chuckled softly, the unease from moments before starting to drain from his body. Somehow, Sakusa made him feel comfortable. " Okay" He said walking over to stand next to the taller boy.
Sakusa looked down at him, smiling softly. " I really am sorry." He said, placing his hand gently on top of Atsumu's head, running his hand through the soft blonde hair. " I just thought you might like a tour of the palace, I didn't expect my mom to appear out of nowhere." He paused, pulling his hand reluctantly away from the smaller boy. " Though I probably should have anticipated this. Komori told her about you yesterday, and she can be a rather nosy person at times. Still I'm sorry."
Atsumu smiled, a calm warmth settling over his chest. Reaching out he took Sakusa's hand in his own, giving it a gentle squeeze, taking note of the strength in the ravenettes fingers as he squeezed back, firm but gentle. " It's okay." Atsumu said, grinning up at Sakusa. " I was just a little surprised is all."
Atsumu felt his face flush, and looked down at his feet, being careful not to look at there interlocked hands. Sakusa chuckled at this, but Atsumu could make out a strange tone, was it nervousness. " I can walk you back to your room now if you want. The doctor said that you would need rest."
Nodding Atsumu dropped his hand back to his side, watching as Sakusa quickly returned his own to his pocket. A small painful pang came from his chest, and his fingers itched to intertwine with Sakusa's once more, but he held them back, instead scratching the back of his head, in an attempt to mask the slight twitch of his fingers.
They walked to the room in silence, neither of the boys looking at the other. If they had, they would have both seen the redness in the others cheeks.
When they reached the room they both stopped, clearing there throats as of preparing to speak. Atsumu put his hands up, gesturing for Sakusa to speak first. Sakusa did so, a sudden seriousness coming over his expression. " Are you ready to talk about last night," He asked quietly. " About the dream?"
Atsumu felt the color slowly drain from his face, leaving him cold and shivering. "Its alright Tsumu" The voice whispered in the back of his mind. Who was that? Why couldn't he remember? Gulping down his Nausea he looked at Sakusa, slowly shaking his head no. " I don't think i'm ready yet."
Sakusa nodded understandingly, reaching out as if to give Atsumu a hug, but stopping short, instead reaching past him and opening the door. For some reason Atsumu felt slightly disappointed " I understand, but you should get some rest." With that he turned to leave, taking a step towards his own room. Before he could think about it Atsumu reached out, catching hold of his sleeve.
" Stay with me" He said, staring down at the floor and shivering. " I-I don't want to be alone."( Authors note: Hope you like this chapter, let me know if you see any mistakes, grammar, name spelling, or anything else you can think of. Hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading. 💞)
