Katsuki knew better. He knew better than to leave the reef, but no matter how many times his mother lectured or shouted about he shouldn't, Katsuki didn't listen. Even his friends said it was a bad idea, but he did it anyway. Katsuki thought he was invincible, he thought since he was the prince of Atlantis he couldn't possibly be weakened by a few dumb humans on a stupid boat. But as a approached said boat, while his friends screamed at him not to, he realized just how bad of an idea it was. When he broke water one of the fishermen spotted him immediately and started shouting to the other.

It was just four of them. One with shoulder length white hair and flaky skin, another with purple scars all over his face and body, a third that was tattooed from head to toe with green scales, then the last one was a female with strange dark and plump lips. They were not nice especially when the white haired one stabbed Katsuki twice with his spear, maiming him. The blonde was honestly taken aback by such cruelty. He never believed humans could be so horrible even though that's what all the elders would tell them. Katsuki didn't want to believe the stories were true, but apparently they were.

What was worse was he not only got himself caught, but got his best friend captured too. Eijirou was far away with the others, but he could sniff out blood from miles away due to his shark senses. Though he could control his hunger to eat really well unlike others of his subspecies. The redhead tired to fight off the humans who had hurt Katsuki without hurting anyone, but it was useless and both of them were dragged into the boat, flailing their tails. Neither of them have been out of the water fully before and Katsuki was bleeding to death. The humans didn't care and they were tossed into a dirty glass case that they could barely fit in.

Eijirou did the best he could to stop the bleeding that was now tainting water they were breathing. They didn't have a healer with them so all they could do was put pressure on the wounds. It was getting harder and harder to resist his urge to feed, but Eijirou did so anyway. Somehow the bleeding did subside, but a few days later when the boat stopped at some place they were taken by people in strange white clothes. Eijirou and Katsuki were taken to another place after being put into a cleaner glass case separately and they were fed.

The redhead was so hungry that he ate the food they gave him immediately like some beastly animal, but Katsuki on the other hand refused even though he was weak from blood loss and shame. They spent a month, Katsuki kept up with the days, in a place that had many other sea creatures in separate glass cases before they were moved around a lot. Katsuki didn't know where Eijirou went, but he hoped the people in white outfits didn't hurt him. The blonde worried about his family and wondered if they were searching for him. He's sure they were, but they would never find him. Katsuki's no longer in the sea.

The new humans were much nicer though they were mean sometimes. They would talk to him, but he couldn't understand. Then they would do things to him like take his scales, cut his nails, or pluck out some of his hair, steal blood from him, and one time they even did a weird thing with a small box that flashed and hurt his eyes. Katsuki didn't understand any of it nor did he care. He just wanted to go home, but he never would. How could he? We was stuck in a place that he didn't know, with people who wanted to hurt him, and no way to get out. He was alone.

A few months later Katsuki met a very tall blonde human who tried speaking to him, but he still couldn't understand. When the human seemed to understand that he gave up and left, but then the next day he returned and said something again. Katsuki still didn't understand him, but he was taken to a new place later that day. The vibrant blonde man took him to a large place and put him in a very big thing of water. It wasn't like the small glass cases he had been in and if he was stupid he would've thought it was the ocean. He knew better though. He was still trapped and away from home.

There were walls and with glass walls in some places around the area. The rocks and seaweed felt real though and the other little fish were real too. It made it feel a little closer to home, but it wasn't home, and he didn't like it. He settled into a cave at the bottom of the place that apparently had a glass wall in it too. The blonde never left the cave unless it eat time to eat. He has spent three days there without eating because there was no food then the blonde man looked though the glass wall in his cave and showed him he had food like the other humans.

Katsuki didn't know what to do or how to get the food, but he was so hungry. So he left the cave and swam up to the surface hoping the human would be there and he was after a few minutes. Katsuki hesitantly took the food and ate the food the other gave him. It was that or starve and he didn't want to die. The ash blonde ate while the other talked nonsense while sitting down near the water. Katsuki stayed a few feet away from him, but when he was done eating he immediately went back to the cave.

Over time he got used to living there and he found out that Eijirou was near too, but in a different place that was like his. They had spotted each other one day at feeding time and the redhead smiled shouting a "Hey Katsuki!" The blonde was relieved to see that he was okay, but he didn't say anything back except for wave. He felt awful for getting his friend taken too. As he looked away from the happy redhead the tall human spoke up, but Katsuki still couldn't understand him. So the human did something strange with his large hands.

He pointed to Eijirou with one finger then to Katsuki with another and put both fingers side by side. The ash blonde frowned trying to understand why he put the two fingers together then it clicked. The human was trying to ask if they were together so Katsuki nodded and the other smiled. After that the human tried communicating that way to him and it made things a little easier. When he wasn't eating though he stayed in the cave. He came to realize that the tall human wasn't going to hurt him and he was only trying to communicate so Katsuki tried his best to understand and communicate back.

Years later and one day after the merman had turned fifteen, Katsuki though he heard the vibrations of a lot of people talking near his home. For some reason other humans would come to see him or try to anyway. He usually stayed in his cave. The humans would stand at the glass walls for hours sometimes and some would even come back the next day and do the same. Katsuki didn't know why they were there, but he stayed away from them and only came out of his man made cave when the tall blonde human showed up at his glass wall with food.
