Family

The door was closed as my father stepped inside. Jazzy and Jaxon were now running around the house.

"Dad what are you doing here?" I asked

"Someone told me how much you missed them so I brought them to you" he answered back

"It was mom, wasn't it?" I asked grinning

"Well....." he sighed. "She texted me."

"Mom, always doing what's best for us"

He laughed "That's Pattie"

"Do you still love her?" I asked

"Justin....."

That's the thing with parents, when you ask them a particular question, a question that they don't want to answer. What do they do? They avoid it or change the subject. Every time I bring up the topic of my parents getting back together or mention the name to the other parent, they avert the topic and change the subject likewise with both of them its the same thing. Are they hiding something or am I just getting my hopes up for no reason at all?

"So how is break coming along?" he asked sitting on a stool.

I forgot to mention I'm on break.

"It sucks" I said sadly

"I heard, the paps" he said

"Dad, what if they find out? What happens to Emily then?" I asked. I was now frowning.

"Well son, you can't protect her forever" he said sternly

"She got raped" I said looking down

"How long are you going to blame yourself for that night" he asked

"Till Jake Heilieman gets what he deserves" I said angrily clenching my fist

"What does he deserve?"

"To put behind bars, dad look at it, it could happen to another girl, another victim"

"It's not your place, he will get what's coming to him when the time is right. Do you understand?"

I muttered "Yes"

"Good"

"Justy will you play with me?" Jazzy asked

"Sure princess, what do you want to do?"

"I want to go outside"

"Me too" yelled Jaxon

"I lifted them both up and proceeded to the door.

"Be careful" my dad warned

I opened the door

"Where are you going? Why are they here?" a voice asked

"Justy who is he?" Jazzy asked

"My stepbrother" I responded
