y/n y/l/nAs the barrier stood, we held against it. Cheong-san and Su-hyek got ready to open the door.
As soon as they did, they rushed back to the opposite side where we stood. Joon-yeong pressed on the video tape followed by singing.
My stomach dropped, but my heads were steady. Zombies of students ran inside, snarling and gnawing at us. Wu-jin stood by the door, letting us know whether the coast was clear.
Excitement built through my course, along with nervous who was already there. "Shit!" I heard Ji-min curse.
"Done yet?!" I asked Wu-jin.
"Not yet!" he called back.
I struggle to hold the barrier but I promise myself to hold on just a little longer. Just a little longer till I can break free and run to the rooftop. More and more zombies start to gather.
"Not yet...." Wu-jin said, "and..now!!"
That was it.
The coast was clear. The hallways were free of zombies. The girls let go and we run, following Wu-jin. I look back, making sure the boys were following—they were, thank god.
We ran up the steps, ditching and dodging every cannibal students coming at us. At one point I nearly tripped before a strong hand gripped my arm. Su-hyeok pulled me up and gently pushed me in front of him.
Behind, I could feel Cheong-san's eyes on us, even when I turned my back. His eyes made the hair on my neck stood.
We continued to run up the steps. As we reach the rooftop door, I tried opening it. The little shit wouldn't budge. Eventually, everyone took turns. None of us could make the door open.
"Shit!" I curse.
Joon-yeong banged on the doors, "IS ANYONE THERE? ANYONE? OPEN THE DOOR!"
"Of course, not!" Dae-su shoved him away. "One, two, three!"
At the count of three, Wu-jin and him started pushing their bodies on the door, slightly hoping it'd budge.
Suddenly my eyes drifted to Nam-ra whose eyes were narrowed with confusion. "Do you hear that?" she asked.
"Hear what?"
She was quiet for a moment until I heard faint whirs of helicopter chops.
"They're here." she stated.
But I had a feeling she wasn't talking about the helicopter. Her eyes were looking at the staircase.
"Nam-ra...what's here?" I ask, my voice quivering.
I watched Cheong-san move closer, Su-hyeok following with. Su took a wooden pole, gripping it tight as he moved closer to Cheong-san.
I had to admit, those two are the most fruitiest duo in this group.
All of our heads turned towards the end of the staircase where zombies ran. Blood dripped from their mouths, shoulders half bitten, uniform ripped to shreds.
And they were all coming towards us.
"Oh, shit." I quietly whimper.
"Throw this over!" Nam-ra instructed holding a blue plastic cover. Cheong-san and Su-hyeok were fighting off the zombies with wooden poles and whatever shit they could take a hold of.
"Backup!" I told the two boys.
Joon-yeong, On-jo, and I helped Nam-ra, throwing it over; hoping it'd restrain the sick kids from eating us.
We moved backed up to the door. Cheong-san stood next to me. I intertwined our hands together, feeling a sort of comfort. It reminded me that he was also scared.
I was grateful everyone was focused on the zombies, it helped no one notice the slight blush crawling up my cheeks.
I was about to speak when my breath hitched. At the staircase, mixing with the zombies, stood Gwi-nam. I felt my hand being gripped tighter and I squeezed it in response.
Cheong-san and I shared a mutual look.
"That's impossible," I whisper.
"How—"
▬▬▬▬▬▬
I felt a whip of air rush in my palm, telling me Cheong-san let go. He took the music stand Wu-jin had brought and immediately hit Gwi-nam's head harshly.
That didn't do much, but it's the thought that counts.
The only thing it did do was make his head whip to the left. Gwi-nam turned back, scoffing. Cheong-san tried to hit him again but the halfbie had quick reflex, stopping the hit.
Wu-jin ran to help Su-hyeok with fending off the other zombies when Gwi-nam whispered something...rather odd.
"Give me your eye." he whispered.
When did Gwi-nam have an eye kink?
As if proving my thoughts right about his...yeah, he started clawing at Cheong-san.
I ran to help but Nam-ra was faster. The girl grabbed him by the neck. I wanted to shout and scream as support from the sidelines, but I wouldn't want to risk more zombies coming and being on Gwi-nam's death list.
The bit groaned as he attempt to get out of her chokehold. One eye, on her left, had started to turn red, her skin looking like it was melting.
After whispering in his ear, she threw him onto the blue plastic cover, knocking down a few zombies underneath.
Out of the blue, a small alarm went off, beeping.
"Guys! The door's unlocked!" On-jo called. She slammed the door open, motioning for us to hurry outside.
Once everyone was outside, I felt the door close behind me, seeing Cheong-san breathing heavily. The others start to spread, while I stay standing next to Cheong-san.
I could hear Gwi-nam's muffled yells, banging on the door's other side.
We both slump next to each other. "What does he want with you?"
He was quiet for a minute. He knows who i was referring to. "Why does he want your eye?"
Cheong-san shrugged, not saying anything.
I sighed, "Eye kink?"
Warmth spread through my body when I heard his laugh. It was mostly a chuckle, but it was good enough for me.
As long as he's a little happy, that's fine with me.Out of tiredness,I lay my head on his shoulder, steadying my breath.
I felt so...sleepy...
