"Looking for someone?"
Something grabbed Kat and pulled them out of the water.  They took a long deep breath, the water wasn't wet, more like magic.
"You ok kid?" Nightmare asked Kat.
"How'd you get here?" Kat asked weakly.
"Someone called for help." Nightmare said.
Kat realized that Nightmare was here.  Here.  He wasn't supposed to be here.
"Leave now." Carey confronted Nightmare.
"You're one to talk." Nightmare said.
"Sorry not sorry, this is for the grown ups." Nightmare said.  He used his magic to make Kat fall asleep.
Kat woke up in the horrid bed, in the horrid room.
"Who was that?" Nightmare interrogated. He said like it wasn't even a question.
"Huh?" Kat asked. Confused after just waking up.
"Who. Was. That." Nightmare asked.
"Them? They said they... were... I don't know. I think they're name was Carey." Kat said. Their memory was fuzzy because they can't remember Create. So because they've been creating the past couple weeks, they have a large chunk of missing information.
*You felt sleepy.
Kat looked up to see the blue magic.  truth? No.  It was more.  It made the victim do what he says.
They had to do something before Nightmare got more info out of them.
"Don't even try." Nightmare said, noticing Kat eyeing the magic.
"So, where was that place, and why couldn't I see it in the multiverse?" Nightmare asked.
"I don't know.  It was a 'blank canvas' according to them." Kat responded.
"Oh ya, and why were you drowning in the floor when I got there?" Nightmare asked with slight sarcasm.
"Oh well, if I... if I...I don't know but, it has something to do with me getting lost in my own thoughts.  I sink.  Carey showed me how to get out of it, but.. it wasn't working.." Kat said.
"What wasn't?" Nightmare asked, in the same unusually sweet voice whenever he uses that type of magic.
"I don't know... I forgot."  Kat said.
"What about your emotions, how'd you get those back?" Nightmare asked.
"I...I don't remember, something happened.  Something.  But I can't put my finger on it." Kat said.
"Huh.  Ok that's all I needed to know." Nightmare said.  The magic in the tentacle faded and Nightmare took it away.
*You flipped off the very ugly skeleton.
"Had to do what I had to do."  Nightmare said shrugging.
*Gosh you hated him.
"I need to go figure things out." Nightmare said leaving Kat alone in the room.
So, they can't remember using their power.  Odd.  That's something to keep in mind.  Good for me as well.
Nightmare took a mental note.
"Hey!" Carey said.
*You got startled.
"Who- Wait you're Carey right?" Kat asked.
"Mmhm I've been thinking about it and I prefer Casey." Casey told Kat.
"Ok... How are you here?" Kat asked keeping their voice down.
"I never was here! I'm a fragment of your soul.  I never had a physical body."  Casey said ignoring Kat's attempts to keep it down.
"Shush, keep it down." Kat whispered.
"Why? It's not like they can see, or hear me for that matter." Casey stated shrugging.
"Then how can I see you?" Kat asked.
"Because I'm apart of you! It's hard to explain but I'll tell you later."  Casey said.
"I can get you out of here.  Maybe to Ink or back to where we came from."  Casey proposed.
"Where'd we come from?" Kat asked with their memory being fuzzy and all.
"The blank space.  The canvas. A space where we could create anything we want."
"How? I'd love to get out of here as soon as possible." Kat said.
"You just have to trust me, it'll be just like a Dream."  Casey said offering their opaque hand to Kat.
"Ok-" just then Nightmare slapped Kat's hand away from Casey's.
"It's either I'm going insane, which I already am, you're going insane, which I know you're not.  Or someone's having a conversation." Nightmare said looking in Casey's direction.
"How can you see me?" Casey snared.
"Just a little bit of magic." Nightmare said shrugging.
"That doesn't matter.  We can still get away from here.  Ready Kat?" Casey reaches for Kat's hand and grabbed it, ready to have a physical form again.  Nothing happened!
"H-how are you doing this?!" Casey asked.
"I have a few tricks."  Nightmare said amused.
"Use the Create button!" Casey said panicking.
"What's That?" Kat asked.
"Ugh!" Casey started to get frustrated.
Nightmare used his magic noticing that there was a negative presence.
"Kat, it's like summoning the Reset button." Casey said. Kat seemed to ignore them.
"Cakes?" Kat asked.
*You could no longer see or hear Casey.
"What did you do?!" Casey asked.
"A magic trick." Nightmare said to Casey, Kat over heard.
"Huh?" Kat asked tired.
Nightmare sneakily used his magic above Kat.
"Where's- Cas-!..? Huh?" Kat started angrily but stopped themselves mid sentence realizing they don't remember what or who they were talking about. Nightmare made them forget somehow!
(Nightmare used the forgetful Create curse in his favor by convincing the uncontrollable curse that Casey was a creation of Kat's)
Nightmare left whatever Casey was, in the room, with nothing more than an irritated glance back.
Kat and Nightmare walked down the hall.
"What happened the in the last few weeks..." Kat said rubbing their forehead as though it would help their memory situation.
"So, been noticing you've been having some well, me." Nightmare said changing the subject.
"Nightmares?" Kat asked.
"Ya." Nightmare said.
"What's it to you? It's not like you care, if anything the negativity helps you. Or something." Kat said.
"You wanna tell me what they're about?" Nightmare asked.
"You are literally the King of Nightmares." Kat said continued.
"I know you're avoiding the question~" Nightmare said in a really annoying tone.
"Am not!" Kat argued.
"Are too~" Nightmare said it even more annoying than the last.
"I don't like to talk about it..." Kat said.
"I'm not gonna make you," Nightmare said.
"Ok seriously though. What's going on? You're not this nice." Kat said.
"And you're not either." Nightmare said trying to continue the bicker battle.
"What's going on?" Kat asked seriously.
"You're apart of the crew now. And it's my job to make sure everyone isn't infinitely suffering, ya know, from Nightmares." Nightmare said.
"Self restrain." Kat corrected.
*You couldn't tell if Nightmare looked shocked, and angry, or on the verge of laughter.
"But seriously. What's going on?" Nightmare said collecting himself.
"Nothing." Kat said stubbornly.
"Fine. Who wants to go terrorize a village!" Nightmare yelled so the whole castle could hear.
There were now 4 other ugly skeletons, including Killer, Horror, not Cross, and dust. who looked oddly excited, well except cross, he's supposed to be emo, and not there.
*They all looked like little kids about to go to the beach.
"You were saying?" Nightmare asked Kat.
"Ugh!" Kat said frustrated.
"That was a test you few passed, this one didn't." Nightmare told the now very disappointed 4.
*It started raining so the children couldn't go to the beach.
The skeletons walked away defeated.
Nightmare and Kat were in a spare room.
"So what's been up?" Nightmare asked.
"The vent." Kat said very sus.
"You're too stubborn." Nightmare said.
"I know." Kat said like they won an award.
"But again, seriously, what's been giving you those bags under your eyes?" Nightmare asked.
"I-I don't like to talk about it." Kat's said uncomfortably, angry almost.  Memories, horrible ones started flooding back.
"So, you really don't like someone?" Nightmare said, who could sense negativity.
"I know you know." Kat said coldly.
"Is it a parent?" Nightmare asked.
"I said I don't like to talk about it!" Kat said loudly.
"So, my hunch was correct." Nightmare said.
*Your heart seemed to have hurt, you didn't take damage, but it ached with sorrow.
"I hate you."  Kat asked holding back tears. How embarrassing, crying in front of Nightmare... They reminded themselves of a kid, much younger. Like when they fell off their bike and.. he...
"I'll still be looking for an answer." Nightmare said.
*You made an annoyed expression.
Kat couldn't bare it any longer. They couldn't bare the pain.
*A tear fell down your face.
Kat's tears were followed by more.
"Hey, hey, hey, you're ok." Nightmare said. His voice was sweet, less disoriented, but he wasn't using the magic.
Kat couldn't bare it. They told him everything, despite hating to remember. They had a rough past.
"If it w-wasn't f-for, I I-I would've..." Kat trailed off. Nightmare looked worried. Genuine, even.
"You're ok. He's not here now, he'll never be here. You're fine." Nightmare said comfortingly. Was Nightmare actually comforting them?!
Nightmare hugged Kat. He actually bothered to hug them. The next few minutes were followed by Kat's tears.
"No training. All right?" Nightmare said.
"C-can we still go there though?" Kat asked.
"Sure, you idiot." Nightmare responded.

Despite the events, this
IS NOT A SHIP!!! If you use this story, please don't ship Kat with Nightmare.
Kat is supposed to be 20 or younger, idk I'm not paying attention, and Nightmare is like 4 or 5 hundred. Please don't ship them.
(If you really want to ship them with someone and it makes sense you can, but preferably not. Because Kat is asexual and aromatic.)
