"I don't know what to do." Perrie says, talking on the phone with her best friend, while making Zahra's lunch.
"That's totally understandable. You're in a tough spot right now." Leigh replies. "How are you feeling?"
"I don't even know. Part of me is constantly on the verge of tears, and the other part of me is beating myself up because I don't know if I'm overreacting or not." Perrie sighs.
"Don't beat yourself up, babe." Leigh says. "You feel how you feel. I would feel the same, honestly. I would be hurt."
"I am hurt. But it's so hard because I know she didn't mean to hurt me." Perrie says. "I know it wasn't on purpose. I hurt her badly. I pushed her right into that girl's arms that night. That still doesn't make it easier to stomach, though."
"When's the last time you two talked?" Leigh asks. "Like really talked?"
"The last time we actually talked was the other day when I told her the girl came here. I haven't really been able to talk to her since." Perrie replies.
"Is she not home?" Leigh asks.
"Right now she's at work, but she's been home. It's not that she's not here. I just... it's hard to look at her and not think about it. Then I just end up crying." Perrie replies.
"So you've been avoiding her?" Leigh asks.
"I don't mean to." Perrie sighs again. "It's just hard."
"Okay, babe. I love you. You know that. We're best friends, and I feel like I can tell you the truth." Leigh says tentatively.
"You think I'm wrong?" Perrie asks, putting the sandwich she made for the baby on the table and going to get her.
"Not to play devil's advocate, but if it's hard for you, imagine how she must be feeling." Leigh says, making the blonde think. "She has to be cycling through all sorts of emotions in her head. You both need each other, not to be avoiding each other." Perrie sighed, leaning back against the counter to watch her baby eat and play. "And you guys still haven't found anything out for sure, right?"
"Tomorrow she's going to see the girl and the baby. She's going to get a DNA sample from the baby, and mail both of theirs to a lab to confirm. Even though I don't need confirmation. I know. Not only because of the baby's looks. I just have this feeling." Perrie replies. "Then she has to wait at least three days for results. Three whole days where our lives hang in the balance. Three whole days of uncertainty, and mixed feelings."
"I don't know if you're aware of how you're talking, but you're saying things like 'she has to' and 'she's going to'. You're pushing her away when now is the time for you two to pull together." Leigh says carefully.
Just as she finishes, Perrie hears the front door open. Zahra screams excitedly when she sees her mom, and Jade smiles at her as she walks in the kitchen to kiss her.
Perrie can see that it's a forced smile though. She can also see that the brunette's eyes are red and puffy, and it hurts her to see.
"Hey, baby girl." Jade says softly, bending down to kiss her daughter on the head.
She quickly stands up, and almost runs out of the kitchen, not saying a word to Perrie. Seconds later, the blonde hears their bedroom door close.
"She's been crying." Perrie says quietly into the phone, feeling terrible about it.
"She has feelings too, babe." Leigh says, only making the blonde's eyes water.
"I'll call you later, Leigh." Perrie sighs, and both girls hang up.
