To say the weather was better would be an understatement. Celestia had been blessed with sunny, blue skies. For the first time in my life, I felt the heat of the sun flash onto my skin.
"It's beautiful" Tunji murmurs
Themis nods silently, she stares out the window eyes wide.
I glance at my curls shine in sunlight and smile.
" Look the sunny weather is even putting Yemi in a good mood," Tunji smirks
Themis smacks his arm and frowns.
"Can't you see she's enjoying herself, shush,"
They both eye me as if I were some foreign species, and I narrow eyes at them.
"What? "I ask
They giggle in unison while staring creepily at me.
"You're happy "Themis explains
I shake my head. These two were weirder than usual it must be the sun affecting them.
"I'm always happy," I reply
Tunji snorts.
"I don't remember raising you to be a liar, Yemisi"
I elbow him in the ribs and he yelps. Themis pats his back softly and smiles. He was lucky I was in a good mood, any other day he would land face-first on the paved road.
The carriage stops in front of a glowing white castle. The castle was beautiful, it had beautiful flowers that surrounded its perimeter and well as delicate vine-covered flowers that would wrap around its walls. We exit the carriage and are searched by the palace guards.
"State your business," the tallest guard commands
I clear my throat and step forward
"We are here to see Princess Nifemi"
The guards step aside letting us into a small vestibule, where we were searched once again. We leave the room a maid leads us to a small room where we sit and wait.
"I'm scared, " Tunji says
I tilt my head in confusion. He notices and frowns.
"What if we can't find her after all this" He whispers
I pat his back. The only reason he was allowed to join Themis and me, was so he could visit his mother for the first time
" I wasn't expecting such a crowd." A voice says softly.
I glance upwards at a woman, as she gracefully sits in front of us. She looks familiar like I had seen her before. Her hair was the thing that stuck out the most. It was like mine except darker and neater. She wore a light pink dress and a crown that seemed to be tight on her head.
" We we're sent by King Zevheriah " Tunji says
The woman's face instantly turns sour, she takes a deep breath in trying to regain her composure. I hand her the letter, she slowly takes the envelope and stares at me . Our eyes meet and she gasps and quickly opens the envelope.
Tunji stares at Themis and me, I shrug not understanding the princess's reaction. We watch as her eyes scan through the page. Tears drip down her eyes.
"Great now we're gonna die —she's crying" Themis whispers
I elbow her, she was sitting in front of us she could obviously hear us. The princess looks up at me and tears now flow down her caked face. Her makeup begins to run, Tunji quickly hands her a tissue that had been placed on the table next to us. She gives him a small smile and wipes her mascara.
