But I need him and his mother to be safe, I would have to tell them everything I heard, it would be safer for them to go into hiding.
I decide to leave in two days. I had learned enough light magic for me to be able to fight against anything else coming my way.
Somehow my grandmother left something with me when she triggered my memories. I couldn't tell what it was but something had changed.
I waited outside in the sweltering heat waiting for a carriage. I wiped the small beads of sweat off my head while the carriage was taking its ample time to meet me. I sigh slowly, rubbing my arms to reassure myself.
The carriage finally makes its way towards me, with a white stallion galloping towards me, neck held high. I climb into the carriage quickly and express my thanks before directing the carriage master to my destination. I watch as the silver gates shut slowly behind us as we make our way down the cobblestone roads.
I smile, I'll miss this, the fresh air, the clear skies, not to talk of the weather. I pass by cheerful families, kids playing with chalk, and Bakers setting out loaves of bread on their window sills. It was a nice change of pace from staring at drab blank skies every day.
We ease our way down a hill toward Tunji's house. I exit the carriage slowly and I land softly on the street in front of his house.
I knock on the door and Themis appears slowly with frosting on her hair. I watch as she slowly opens the door. Tunji notices me and rushes over to hug me.
"Yemi," he calls
I smile. I missed them too, even if Themis was acting weird. Tunji steps backward and eyes me.
"They've done an alright job," he says frowning.
I stepped back, I hadn't suffered while I was there, they had taken good care of me.. until they started stabbing into my past.
Tunji's mother hugs me and guides me to the living room. I smile in thanks before sitting on the leather couch.
"What brings our favorite Princess out here " Themis calls from the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes. I had no idea where the attitude was coming from but I was going to ignore it ... for now.
"I'm going back" I explained
Tunji sits up straighter
"What happened back there Yemi, you can trust us whatever happens."
I shake my head slowly.
"It's nothing, the King came and we came to the decision for me to go over there to study again."
Ms.Awolowo shivers and wraps her arms around herself.
"That's what that blast of dark energy was"
I won't confirm or deny her accusation, I don't want anyone to treat me differently because of that outburst. Plus we both had an outburst. She could be talking about either one of us.
"I also wanted to warn you," I sigh
It seemed trouble liked to ride on my coattails and attach itself to everyone around me.
"My grandparents are planning to use you as a martyr in case anything goes wrong. If anyone suspects me they have plans to sacrifice you to Nyx" I add
Themis scoffs and I watch as she marches from the kitchen to the now eerily quiet living room.
"So he's in danger, "she says
"As of now, no" I grit
I watch as she folds her arms, why she was being so contentious was being me. If she had a problem she should speak up instead of hiding behind Tunji's problems.
