My mother stayed in the castle surprisingly, even with Varlene's lingering presence.

Varlene and my father had probably set the world record for the fastest divorce ever. He had invited my mother and me to the dining room to announce she was no longer his wife and was stripped of her title. Zayn could barely keep himself from exploding, his face as red as a tomato. Varlene had been tearful but remained oddly dignified. Maybe she had finally accepted her defeat, but I knew better that the conniving snake had better tricks up her sleeve, and this one was fairly obvious.

It was amusing but did nothing to fill the void in my mind. Aleksei had caught all of us off guard, whether I wanted to admit it or not he was formidable. His arrogance taunted me over and over again a constant reminder of my plight.

I lay awake in my bed gripping my sheets. The next time I saw him, there would be no time for his arrogant remarks and cocky smile. I would be ready.

" What's got you up so late, Princess" A voice calls from my balcony.

"I'll kill you" I grit

His laughter reverberated in my room. I stood quickly drawing my dagger.

"Cute jammies" he teases

I scoff in annoyance. We both stood and watched as it gleamed in the moonlight. He advanced towards me, and I held him back my dagger slicing his neck. He barely flinched and grinned lazily at me.

"Go ahead, Princess"

I slowly dropped my dagger, before stabbing him straight in the stomach. He falls to his knees instantly. I run my hands through my hair before twisting the blood-covered dagger in his abdomen. I jerk it out quickly and he curses.

"Gods you're gorgeous " he breaths out

I run the sharp blade across his face, before slicing his skin. I narrow my eyes at him before booting him, releasing another string of curses.

"I hate being threatened" I reply

I usher another kick his way, before grinning.

"But I bet you've learned that already"

He struggles upward and coughs.

"Me and you princess are going to have lots of fun"

I raise a brow in confusion, before a boom is felt throughout the castle.

"Zev" my mother screeches

I curse and kick him once more as he bleeds out on my carpet.

"You'll pay for this"

He smiles at me
"Not this time princess"

I rush out of my room to my father's room. There was my mother holding him tightly as two large gelatinous-humanoid beings corner them.

The larger monster started to siphon my father's magic. I quickly stepped in blasting him with a beam of light.  It stumbles backward and whines. The smaller one attempts to blindside me
And lunges for my back. I whip around using my light energy to summon fire.

The monster flops falling to the ground. I instantly turn up the heat, now having my fire turn a light blue. I grin as the monster leaves a puddle of slime as he disintegrates. The remaining monster runs after my mother, but I quickly shoot him through the window before hopping outside to finish the job.

The monster tries to circle me but I called upon my spirits to take over. Elated dozens of them heed my call and begin to rip the gelatinous demon to pieces, until he resembles confetti. The spirits snicker and devour the remains. I groan in disgust and levitate back up to the window.
