Derek was paced back and forth outside of the OR, trying to comprehend what just happened. Everything was going well, the family of four, soon to be five were laughing and joking around, until they weren't.
"Here's some crackers and cheese for you, Zo." A very pregnant Meredith said as she bent down to hand the cup to her daughter.
"Thanks mama!" Zola exclaimed cheerfully. Meredith opened her mouth to respond when a sharp pain ripped through her stomach.
"Ah. Damnit." Meredith muttered to herself, putting her hand under her stomach and wincing.
"Ah!" Meredith cried out, dropping to her knees. She could hear Derek running from Bailey's room. Meredith pulled her hand away from her stomach and her face went pale at the sight of red.
"Mer!" Derek exclaimed, rushing to her side. "Derek..." Meredith whispered, eyes full of fear as she looked at him.
"Alright, alright. You're okay. Amy!" Derek yelled. Amelia emerged from the other room and her eyes widened. "Call 911 and get Zola out of here." He said in a panic.
Amy nodded and grabbed her phone out while taking Zola into another room. "Derek." Meredith whispered, voice shaking.
"You're gonna be okay, Mer. You're both gonna be fine."
Derek was snapped out of his thoughts when the OR doors swung open. He shot up and walked over to Arizona and Bailey.
"Please tell me they're okay." Derek said, worry evident in his expression. Arizona smiled tightly. "Meredith and the baby are both okay." She said.
Derek sighed in relief and threw his arms around the two women. "What the hell happened?" He asked, running a hand through his hair.
"A placental abruption. There's no way to know if it's going to happen or not." Arizona explained. "Meredith had quite a bit of bleeding, so she'll be out for a couple hours, but I resolved it all and she should make a full recovery." Bailey said.
"Do you want to meet your daughter, Derek?" Arizona asked with a smile.

Derek smiled at his newborn baby girl as he sat down in the corner of Meredith's room, who was yet to wake up.
His daughter was perfect. Absolutely perfect. With her tiny button nose, wispy blonde hair, and tiny toes, she was Meredith's clone.
"Mmm." Meredith moaned quietly as she began to come around. Derek stood up from the chair quietly and quickly and walked over to her bedside.
Meredith's eyes slowly opened and she looked at him, worriedly. "Where's-where's-"
"She's right here. She's okay. 10 fingers and 10 toes." Derek replied softly. Meredith whimpered as she tried to sit up. "Take it easy, Mer. Take it easy." Derek said gently, raising the bed for her.
Derek carefully placed their daughter in her arms and watched tears well up in Meredith's eyes. "She looks like you." Meredith said with a small smile.
"She looks like you. She's beautiful." Derek countered, kissing her forehead gently.
