(Meredith POV)

As Dylan instructed me to take out the bomb, I froze. "Derek is downstairs, right? He's not up here?" I asked worriedly. I will not take this bomb out if Derek is still on this floor. "Yes Grey, he finished tuckers surgery and he's downstairs. Now, please continue." Burke said. I felt a huge weight come off of my shoulders. "Okay, on three, keep it steady. 1,2,3." Dylan said. I slowly pulled out the bomb and placed it into Dylan's hands.

"You did good." Dylan said as he started slowly walking towards the door. He walked out the doorway and into the hall, and for some reason, I followed him out. "Grey?" Burke asked. I followed him out of the door and walked into the hallway. He was already almost down the hall, when the bomb suddently exploded. I watched it explode, the force of it throwing me back. I slammed my head into the wall and onto the floor. That's the last thing I saw before everything went black.

(Derek POV)

After I finished tuckers surgery, I went downstairs and waited with everybody. Meredith was still up there with her hand on a bomb that could explode any minute. I was pacing back and forth. "Derek, you need to calm down." Addison said softly as she put her hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off and started yelling. "Calm down?! How am I supposed to calm down!? My girlfriend is up there with a bomb in her hand!" I yelled loudly, causing a scene. Addison quickly pulled her hand off my shoulder and backed away. I opened my mouth to yell again before I was cut off with a loud bang.

"Was that the bomb?" Richard asked. The other bomb guy nodded. I turned to the stairs and I ran up as quickly as possible.

I got to the floor and it was in scrambles. "Holy shit." I muttered to myself. I stepped over the debris in search for Meredith. "Mer!" I called out. I need her to be okay. I need to hear a cry, a yell, anything to let me know that she's okay.

I turned the corner to see a lot more debris, but also a small figure on the ground next to the wall. "Mer." I got out. I ran towards her and knelt down. She had a deep laceration on her forehead, and dirt and blood everywhere. But it wasn't her blood. It was Dylan's. Everything else looked good, except for the fact that she was unconscious. I carefully took her small form into my arms and cradled her body to my chest.

She stirred slightly in my arms and started coughing, trying to get air into her lungs. "Easy Mer, it's okay, I got you. Just breathe." I murmered. "Der?" She asked. "It's me, Derek. Your okay." I replied. She nodded against my chest. "Can you tell me what hurts?" I asked softly. "Head." She mumbled in reply. "Okay. Your okay. I'm gonna get you out of here." I replied. Head injury. Most likely just a concussion.

"I'm gonna pick you up now, okay?" I asked. "Okay." She replied. "Derek, your spinning." She chuckled. Most likely a severe concussion. "Am I?" I replied. She nodded and I lifted her small body up in my arms. "Can I shower?" She asked. "Can we get you a ct first just to make sure?" I asked, almost positive she'd say no. She shook her head. I sighed and she wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her face into my neck. I wrapped her legs around my waist so that her chest was pressed up against mine. Once I had her safe and secure, I brought her to the showers.

"I'm gonna take off your shirt and scrub pants, okay?" I asked as I set her down. I've seen it all before, and I know she's comfortable with me, but she's in shock right now and I want to make sure. She nodded. I slid her shirt off and revealed a pink bra and some nasty looking bruises on her stomach. I pulled down her scrub pants and her legs looked to be okay.

I turned on the water and made sure the temperature was okay. I took off my shirt and scrub pants, keeping on my boxers. I helped her into the shower and I stood behind her, wrapping my arms around her midsection and holding her close. "I love you." I said quietly. Those three words seemed to make her lose control of her emotions. She comeoletely broke down, her knees buckling. I slowly brought her down to the ground with me and sat her in between my legs. She leaned back into my chest and just sobbed. I pulled her closer to me and just let her cry. The stress of the day finally got to her.

"I'm sorry." She said. "For what, Mer?" I asked. "For putting my hand on a bomb. It was so stupid and you must have been scared. I'm an idiot." She said with tears in her eyes again. "It was stupid, but it's okay Mer. All that matters is that your safe with me. Now how about we finish showering, and we can go home." I suggested. She nodded. We stood up together and i finished showering her.

I stepped out with her and wrapped her into a big towel. "Do you have any clothes here?" I asked. She shook her head. "Okay. I have some extra." I said. I went to the locker and grabbed some sweatpants and a sweatshirt of mine. I already changed into some jeans and a sweater. I pulled the sweatshirt over her head and I pulled the sweatpants over her slim legs. I stepped back and just looked at her. She looked adorable in my clothes. They were way too big for her, but she could pull it off. She can pull anything off. I stepped back towards her and wrapped my arms around her waist. She reciprocated this and wrapped her arms around my neck. "You okay?" I asked softly. "Yes. Can we go home now?" She asked as she pulled away from the hug. I nodded and pulled her close as we walked out. I could tell drom the way she was walking she was very sore. I tightened my grip on her and took some of the weight off of her.

We got home 20 minutes later to an empty house. "Do you wsnt to eat or go to bed?" I asked. "Bed." She replied. I put my hand on the small of her back and followed her up to her room. She got into bed and pulled the covers way up. I did the same and wrapped my arm around her waist. Her back was pressed into my chest, and her hair was all in my face, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
