(Bill pov)

I sit at my desk glancing back at Pinetree. He lays on my bed curled up under the blankets, droplets of sweat visible on his forehead. Some color has thankfully come back to his face but what worries me more is the fever.

A sudden knock on the door interrupts me from my thoughts. I stand up and open the door seeing Tad standing there with a tray in his hands that contained a bowl of steaming soup and a cup of hot tea.

"I am guessing you haven't fed him yet?"

"He's asleep still."

"He still needs hot liquids Bill." He lets himself into my room and sets the tray on my end table.

"I would have remembered to eventually."

"Sure you would have. Just make sure he eats the soup and drinks the tea."

"Fine fine, just get out." I push him out of the room and shut the door. I pick up the bowl of soup and sit on the edge of my bed gently shaking Pinetree's shoulder.

He groggily wakes up rubbing his eyes. "What....where am I?"

"You're in my room. Do you remember what happened last night?"

"Yeah, for the most part. Some parts are fuzzy but I remember Tad bringing me in here now."

"Well you need to sit up so you can eat. Come on." I help him sit up before I hold up the spoon of soup to his mouth.

"I can feed myself."

"Not happening, I was told to make sure you ate so that's what I'm doing. Now open up."

He opens his mouth and I spoon feed him the soup, slightly disappointed when the spoon scraps the bottom of the bowl. I stand up setting the bowl back on the tray before handing him the cup of tea. He gently blows on it before he takes a sip from it.

"Why did you save me?" I glance back at him seeing him look at me with an unreadable expression on his face.

"Who says I saved you?"

"Tad did when he brought me in here last night."

"I take care of my crew."

"But I'm not part of your crew!"

"Pine-"

"I'm not! You keep acting like I am or expecting me to take orders from you like I want to be here but I don't. You took me away from my sister, my great uncles, my home and everything that I have ever known."

".....what about your parents?"

"What?"

"Whenever we go back and forth like this you complain how I took you away from those great uncles and your sister but you never mention your parents."

"They....they aren't in the picture anymore." He looks down at the cup of tea, refusing to even glance in my direction anymore.

"Did they just abandon you two as kids?"

"No. They died in some kind of accident when we were 12."

"What kind of accident?"

"I don't know."

"You're lying."

"No I'm not. I don't know because Stan and Ford never told me specifics. That is all I was ever told."

"Surely you have to remember what happened."

"I don't. I have a hard time remembering much about my parents. I think maybe my brain is blocking those memories out trying to protect me from something but I can't be sure."

"If you're brain is trying to block it out then whatever you saw was probably really traumatic."

"The closest thing to knowing how they died is this nightmare I keep having."

"What happens in the nightmare?"

"I'm just shopping in the market with my parents and sister when something happens and my mom gets hurt. My dad tries to help her so I take Mable by the hand and try to get home with her but I get scared. There is yelling and shouting all around us so we hide. This thing knows where we're hiding and before it can get to us I wake up."

".....how often have you had this nightmare?"

"On and off nearly all my life. Went two years without them until you took me. First time I had them again was when I wanted to just drown in the waves the night before the storm."

"You should get some more rest. You still have a high fever and that's my main concern." He finishes the tea and I take it from him setting it on the tray as he lays down again and curls up under the blankets falling asleep again.

I set the tray outside my door for it to be someone else's problem before putting my hand on Pinetree's forehead again, frowning as I feel the heat radiating off of his skin. I take a canteen out of a drawer on my deks and pour the water onto a bandana. I fold it and put it on Pinetree's forehead to try and help with the fever.

I sit on the edge of the bed and gently put my hand on his forehead as I enter his dreams.

................................................

The world slowly forms around me and I realize that I'm in a child's bedroom. I glance my right and Pinetree sitting on a bed reading a book. I tilt my head slightly to look at the title and am slightly surprised to see that he's reading Treasure Island.

For someone who has no sea legs of any kind he sure loves reading about pirate adventures. I look over at his desk and see on the desk are pictures and letters sprawled out, all of them from Ford and from places far from Gravity Falls. He really kept every letter that he got from that old man during his travels over seas.

I look down as I realize that the room is filling with water out of no where. Not normal blue water either, it's dark and black just like it was the night of the storm. I see Pintree panic as the room quickly fills up with water, every book and other objects he owns floating aimlessly in the water. As the water gets higher he struggles to stay afloat until it's up to the ceiling not laving him with much air left. He hits his hands on the ceiling and I hear the panic in his voice.

"Someone please help!"

My hands glow blue as I hold my hands out on either side of me to pause the dream before he can go under. I force myself out of his dream just into his mind. I shrink his nightmare down and holding it in my hands I absorb it into new power.

"Holy shit..." I mutter not expecting how refreshed the one nightmare would make me. "You sure are full of surprises, Pinetree."
