Sam's POV
I was nervous to be back in the group. I thought that everything that I did from here on out would be judged by them. It was worth it though, they are the only people I actually care about. Everyone else can just go die in hell. I know that what I did to Bucky was wrong and I'm trying to change what I did. I'm glad I'm back in the group but every time I move their eyes go with me. It was going to he awhile before they would trust me again. I can respect that but I hope it won't take to long.
"Hey Steve, when are you going home?" I asked.
"In a day or two," Steve said.
"That's good," I said, "When are you coming back to school."
"When I feel good enough to go back to school," Steve said.
He didn't seem like he wanted to talk so I just stopped the conversation then. A couple minutes later Steve was asleep. Bucky and I looked at each other in awkward glances. Clint knew there was tension in the room so he stood close to us but closer to Natasha. The tension went away when the doctor came through the door. We both backed down a little bit. The doctor sensed some tension too.
"One of you two boys is going to have to leave," The doctor said, "Or I'll make you two a therapy session, so you can get along."
"Sorry sir it won't happen again," Bucky said.
"Good, I need Bucky to come with me anyways," The doctor said.
Bucky walked out with the doctor leaving the rest of us on awkward silence.

Bucky's POV

I was skeptical about why he needed me to go with him but I didn't say anything because I wanted to get away from Sam.
"Steve is doing good," the doctor said, "We're thinking about discharging him either today or tomorrow."
"That's good," I said but I noticed something in his voice, "right?" I added to the end just to make sure.
"Yes but we need to make sure you can handle a post-op patient."
"So what do you want me to do."
"Just answer some questions."
"I can do that," I said.
"What do you do if he has a fever."
"Call an ambulance."
"I would drive him myself to save money but yes, take him to the emergency room," the doctor said, "What do you say if you ever do have to go to the emergency room."
"That he had surgery and we want to request you."
"Good," he said.
"Is that all the question?" I asked.
"Yes, you should know what to do if something bad happens."
"What happens if something bad happens and I can't get here in time."
"Just remember that it's not your fault," the doctor said patting me on the back, "now go back in there with your friends."
I didn't want to go back in there, so I walked the halls for a while. I finally decided to go back in. Steve's room was quite, no one wanted to talk. Steve was still asleep. Natasha and Clint whispered to each other, but Sam and I were completely silent.
"You know we can talk to each other," Sam said.
"Yeah I know, I just don't want to." I said coldly.
"Oh I see how it is."
"Well you did yell at me for being gay."
"Well you punched me in the face," he said defensively.
"Yeah, after you yelled at me for being gay," I said.
"I know and how many times do I have to apologize until you forget about that."
"Things like that are never forgotten," I said, "Only buried deep down inside so it doesn't hurt you again."
"Well I told you it was stupid that I did that," Sam said.
"It was."
"Then will you please just forgive me and talk to me like you did before all this started."
"I forgive you, but I will never look or talk to you the same way again. What you did is unacceptable."
"Then why are you forgiving me?" He asked confused.
"Because Steve wants me to," I said.
Steve stirred in his sleep.
"Let's be more quiet, we're going to wake him up," I said.
"So you still want to talk," Sam asked.
"Not really but since I have nothing else to do sure."
"You know you've missed a lot of school days," Sam said.
"Yeah I know."
"Pretty soon you're going to have to do summer school."
"I'll go back to school before that happens."
"Are you sure?"
"As long as he goes with me," I said pointing to Steve.
"And what if he isn't ready to leave but if you don't go to school you have summer school."
"Then I'll go to summer school."
"Oh come on Buck, you and I both know that's not what you want. If you just miss a couple days with him here, then you can spend the whole summer with him," Sam said.
"I know but I can't leave him here, I just can't."
"I'll be here and so will Clint and Natasha. Then you can hang out with everybody else at school. How about you go back to school tomorrow," Sam said.
"But they said they might discharge him today or tomorrow," I said.
"Just go to school tomorrow, Clint and I got it covered."
"Fine I'll go to school tomorrow but if you screw anything up while I'm gone, I'll kill you," I said and I could tell Sam knew I wasn't lying.
