📍Odair Household
10:00am

I fold a black turtle neck matched with white bottoms and put them into my small suitcase. My brother Finnick and I are packing for the dreaded quarter quell interviews.

When we first heard the news that we had to compete in the games again, the internal pain was agonizing. All of the feelings of despair and sorrow from 10 years ago came back.

Being adopted in order to find a new life, and then being put into the worst event in history is bad enough. Finnick and I can be cocky, sure. But when it comes down to it, these are the worst parts of our lives. And having to do it again is a continuation of a nightmare.

I'm packing my white boots when we get a knock at the door. I put my things down and walk out of the room, Finnick behind me. I walk down the stairs to the front door, and open it to see two tall peacekeepers.

"We're looking for Florence and Finnick Odair." The man on the right says in his deep voice.

"That's us." Finnick walks up behind me.

"We're here to inform you that you'll be preparing for The Hunger Games without your regular mentor, Mags Flanagan. You'll be training with District 12 tributes this years." The man on the left says.

"Wait, what?" I ask.

The peacekeepers pause temporarily, before turning around and marching away.

"Wait! Why aren't we training with Mags!?" Finnick shouts to them.

They don't flinch, just continue walking away. Way to make this experience an even worse one.

Mags was the mentor that we had when we won the games at age 14. She taught us how to win, she was the sole reason we survived. Meanwhile, the district 12's won by kissing on camera and cheating the game of its rules.

We're gonna fucking die.

"Training without Mags?" I look back at Finnick.

"Guess we'll be training with the Mockingjay herself." Finnick reaches his hand over my head and closes the door before walking back upstairs.

------

We're escorted into the train by a girl with a cage around her head, an avox.

"And that's-"

"Finnick Odair, right?" The girl interrupts the mans voice.

Just then, the avox opens the door for us.

"Right." Finnick walks in with confidence. "Hey, 12's."

I walk in behind him and flash a smile at the two tributes sitting on the rounded couch.

"Odair's! Glad you could join us." Haymitch sarcastically welcomes.

Finnick and I take our seats on the couch. He takes the arm seat while I sit on the inside, next to Katniss. Not to be soft or anything, but she's honestly beautiful.

"You were saying." Finnick looks over to Katniss.

Katniss continues, "District 4, the fishing district." She says.

"Right." Haymitch confirms. "Won their games at 14, very humble."

"You're kidding." Katniss remarks.

"You're one to talk, Miss Rebellion." Finnick remarks.

Katniss eyes him, but doesn't say anything.

Haymitch continues, "Since their mentor is..." he pauses before taking a breath and continuing, "Unavailable, they're training with us. Therefore, you're allies"
