📍Arena
⏰Day 2"This entire arena seems to be laid out like a clock." Katniss tells us.
We're on our way to the mouth of the Conucopia, Katniss explaining what Wiress told her.
"It's a new threat every hour, but they stay only within their wedge. It all starts with the lightning. Then the blood rain, fog, monkeys, that's the first 4 hours. At 10, that big wave hits from over there."
"Wiress, you're a genius." Finnick whispers as he passes her.
"The tail points at 12." Peeta points out.
"That's where the lightning strikes at noon and midnight."
"Strikes where?" Beetee asks Katniss.
"That big tree." She points to the tall, but significantly skinnier tree from earlier.
"Good." Beetee stares at it.
Wiress leaves the group and goes to the edge of the rocks.
"Hickory dickory dock." She begins.
"I thought you took care of this." Johanna snarks at Katniss as we walk toward the weapons.
"Johanna, come on. Ease up." I defend.
She sarcastically smiles before spinning her knife around her finger, signaling that she'd stab Wiress.
Peeta draws a circle in the black sand of the cornucopia.
"So 12 to 1, lightning. Then 1 to 2 is blood, then fog, and then monkeys."
Honestly, hearing what we've been through all laid out like that, it's more horrifying than I originally felt.
"As long as we steer clear of whatever sectors active, we'll be safe." Peeta continues.
"Yea, realatively speaking-"
Finnick is cut off by a deep gasp from Wiress' direction. We all look to her and are met with Gloss on his knees behind her, cutting her throat. Our faces drop, and Katniss wastes no time putting an arrow in his chest. Eight's sitting in the dark sand, and I quickly stand in front of her. I shove Katniss out of the way and throw a spear at the blonde tribute who was running up behind her.
Finnick and Katniss are in the middle of fighting off Brutus and Enobaria when a loud rumble comes from the ground. It begins shaking, and we all fall to the ground as the entire cornucopia rapidly starts spinning.
Luckily, the kid and I are right beside the weapons stands, which has a table embedded into the ground. Thinking fast, I grab hold of the table leg and hold onto Eight with my other arm. Johanna, who was behind me, grabs onto my leg. Katniss fell onto her stomach, and almost fell into the water before grabbing Johanna's hand. I look to the right to see Peeta getting bombarded with fallen boxes and weapons. He slips off, and my heart drops. But Finnick grabs his hand. The water being thrown up around us, along with the loud rumbling, floods my senses.
"Hold on!" Johanna yells to Katniss.
I look down to see Katniss slip off. Just like that, she's under the water.
"Katniss!" I shout.
But I can't even attempt to go get her. I have Eight in my arms, and I'm the only thing holding Johanna on. Helpless, I squeeze my eyes shut and wait for the spinning to be over,
Finally, the spinning comes to a creaking halt. It felt like we were absolutely submerged in water for years.
All of us get up, Johanna and I being the first to run to the edge. We see Katniss emerge from the water, coughing it up. Thank God. She pulls herself up as the boys catch up.
