⏰Day 1-2"Get up! Guys get up! Get up!" I hear Katniss' raspy voice screeching.
"What?" I groggily ask, eyes still closed.
"The fog! It's poisonous!" She screams as I hear the clinking of her bow being put around her back.
I jolt awake when I feel a sharp sting hit my fingers, as if I put my hand on a hot stove.
"Peeta!" Katniss shakes him.
I grab the sleeping child and wrap her arms around my neck before getting my spears and trident. Peeta uses Katniss as support when he stands up.
"Finn wake up now! Wake up!" I aggressively shake him.
Finnick is slow at first, but gets up at the speed of light when he feels the fog catch his fingers as well. He grabs his weapons and begins to help Katniss support Peeta.
I run ahead with Eight as the screams from the trio behind me ring out. It sounds like the fog is eating them alive.
I'm running rapidly...until I'm not. My foot doesn't hit the ground, but instead just keeps going. Suddenly, I'm falling down, tumbling.
I shelter Eight with my body as we turn over and over again down a steep hill. When we finally get to the bottom with a thud, I look back up at the top. I see the shiny shield, a force field.
"It's a force field! Keep coming!" I yell up.
It's silent for a minute, making me anxious. But before long, I see Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick barreling down the same hill I did. They might be injured, but the fog hitting the force field and running up it gives me relief.
I turn around to see the boys barely moving on the ground, but Katniss is gone. But seconds later, I hear her blood curdling screams. I set Eight down before running over to Katniss. But she's not in danger, she's in...water? She's submerging herself in it. I never saw the arena as an ideal place for a bath.
"The water!" She tries to yell. "The water helps!"
I go back to the three at the bottom of the hill and I pull Peeta and Finnick to the water. I help Finnick in first, his wails making my eyes water. Peeta's next, but Katniss helps with him. I sit Eight on the side of the water while I help everyone else.
I wasn't burned too bad, not nearly as bad as them. They were swallowed in it while it only got my finger tips.
After they soothe their boils, Katniss rubs an oil that Haymitch gave her on them, evidently making them feel much better. I rub the back of Finnick's head, doing all I can to comfort him.
I bring Eight in the shallow part of the water and begin washing her off. I wipe the dirt and blood off of her face, revealing a gorgeous and innocent little girl. She doesn't deserve this.
She smiles with her chubby cheeks before abruptly hugging me around the neck. I'm surprised, but I hug back. I'm glad she realizes that I'm not a threat.
I pick her up and go to join Finnick and Katniss, who are now softly speaking to one another.
"Couldn't have been on purpose." Finnick says.
"But this would be a huge mistake. Especially on Tv, why wouldn't a craft come get her." Katniss whispers back to him.
"Who, her?" I intervene, pointing to Eight.
"Of course she's a mistake. But she's here now. Can we please stop debating a child's life right now? God, you guys sound worse than Snow." I reprimand them as I sit down on the ground, facing the water.
