Rumors spread through Demacia like wildfire. It's not everyday that one sees the rare Squirrel Vastayan running through town with an instrument strapped to his back. Even rarer is the one and only Maven of Strings looking for musical talent on the same day. Everyone and their mother knew that Sona would be helping Y/N with a career in music. Sona herself was more than just excited. Her mother noted the many similarities they shared. Their choice of attire or the lack of attire pieces, though their cases were for different reasons. They preferred instruments with strings and most importantly, they both were mute.

Sona very rarely met anyone like herself and her career didn't exactly help. Since it was Monday now, Y/N had some work to do or so he thought. See, Y/N works at the Starbucks not far from the park and sometimes would perform in more public areas should he be feeling a little more confident. It doesn't change the fact that most of his income comes from keeping the park clean. Volunteers were hardly in demand since Y/N was a hard worker, something the law couldn't overlook without proper payment. His work as a Barista wasn't anything outside the norm though, but he needed the money. Though his home is a tree, he still needs to pay bills and some of the equipment he buys is expensive.

When Mr. Buvelle found out about this, he decided he would pay a visit. Sona insisted that she was to come with. Seeing as he lacked the ability to say no, they both went. As work continued on as usual, Y/N's fellow employees had to keep customers moving along the line since as stated before, everyone knew he was going to be working with Sona. They made sure to congratulate him on that too. A couple of the female workers were upset that he would be leaving them, but they couldn't stop him from chasing his dream. While music was more so a hobby than a dream, being able to improve himself and make a nice living for himself would make life easier. There was just one problem still. He was still an introvert.

The thought of being on stage terrified him. He only managed to get on stage for the Buvelle's because there was only them and their servants. Not hundred, possibly thousands of people. It made his tail tuck itself between his legs. When Mr. Buvelle and Sona walked through the door, his whole core froze solid. Sona smiles and waves at him as the two approached the counter. While people on the opposite side couldn't see it, Y/N's coworkers could see his legs visibly shaking. It doesn't help that all eyes were on the two. When Sona saw the concern from the staff and saw how Y/N was more silent than his mutism would lead people to believe, she motions with her hands and tells him to take deep breaths.

His progress was shaky but he did manage to calm down a little. The lack of music was bothering him though. The two Buvelle order two of the same drink and Y/N got along with making them. His coworkers covered for him by dealing with the other customers. Once the drinks were ready and paid for, Mr. Buvelle took a sip of the drink. Y/N watched nervously as he drank it. Before he said anything, Sona shoots her father a serious stare. He remarks that its about as good as he expected. Nothing another Barista couldn't serve. Sona rolls her eyes and gives Y/N a thumbs up and smile. Y/N nervously smiles before his attention was returned to Mr. Buvelle. He was to come to their mansion today so that him and Sona can begin their work.

Y/N told them he would have to speak with his manager since he doesn't get off till four-thirty. The older man raises his eyebrow and asks if he can speak with the manager. Y/N gulps and takes a step away. One of his coworkers beat him though and brought said manager out. The two have a brief discussion, leaving Y/N with Sona. The two stand in silence. Hard to tell if it was awkward or not since they were both mute. The Maven takes another sip of her coffee, putting a satisfied smile on her face. She tells him that it's much better than what her father would tell him. This made Y/N's eyes widen a little. Unbeknownst to him, his tail was wagging back and forth like a dog. Something everyone saw. Sona giggles and asks if he wants to get ice cream.

Y/N nods rapidly but immediately blushes. He answered that way to fast and he was worried if he was coming off as clingy or something. Mr. Buvelle then came out, telling Y/N that he was to get ready to leave. This shocked Y/N since it was so fast and sudden. The limousine would be waiting outside the park. He was to bring whatever he needed and get ready. He'd probably be there the rest of the day. Before he could protest, one of the male employee's gave him a gentle nudge outside. Okay, it was actually a firm shove. They knew he was shy and that shyness can make him a little stubborn. It was time for the squirrel to fly towards a bigger future. As the three exited the coffee shop, Sona gave him that same smile and waved. Y/N waved back as he walked on back to his home in the park.

Once they were in the limousine, Sona was bouncing with excitement. Just being able to hear him play again would be a treat. She believes that with enough help with his confidence and stage fright, he'd be a big name in no time. Her father tells her to calm down but of course she doesn't. As Y/N got back to his tree house, he swaps from his uniform and into a pair of khaki pants and blue t-shirt. This felt a underwhelming to him though so he swapped to a dress outfit. A red button up shirt, black dress pants and a matching vest. Now he felt overwhelming. It doesn't help that the lack of shoes made it look weird. Deciding to bite the bullet, he wears his more casual of the two and grabs his acoustic guitar. Finally, he makes sure his hair was presentable as well as his tail.

Now he was all set and nervous as can be. Of course, he makes sure his phone is charged and ready. The music would help him a lot. Y/N takes his time heading towards his ride as he needed to build up some confidence and reassure himself that he wasn't about to make a fool of himself. His outfit was fine and he was fine. As he approached the limo, one of the servants opened the door from him, letting him slide right in. He squeaked when Sona suddenly landed right next to him. She was very excited to be working with him. Y/N was nervous having her so close. Her father tells her off and reassures Y/N that he would be treated with respect while in their home.

As the limousine proceeded to their location, Y/N decided to pop his ear pods in and listen to a song. Before he could find it Sona, tugged on his shirt and asked if she could have one of his pods. He nods and hands her one. As he scrolls through the list, Sona notes all the more feel good songs. Y/N's whole playlist was based on lyrics with good meanings. The one he chose this time was the full English cover of Boogie Back by Megami33. Sona gives him a peculiar smile. Y/N blushes and looks away. She knew the meaning behind those lyrics quite well. Y/N's passion for music ran deeper than what she originally thought, but was like a bird in a cage.

He wanted to be free and she had the key.
