She chooses me

"I miss you..."

Is she for real right now? First she uses our daughter to trick me into coming here and now she's trying to play me again.

"Leave me alone, Bette." I say in a very stern voice.

"How can I... When all I can think about is you."

Something inside of me just snapped. The nerve she has!

"You should have thought of that before fucking Felicity!"

I wanted to turn around and walk away I really did, but Bette had it coming.

"I realise now how little I really mean to you, cause otherwise you wouldn't have done the things you've done and definitely not keep doing them after we fix things again."

"And you know what Bette? If you can't treat me well then somebody else will!"

Bette just stares at me trying to find the words to reply.

"And that someone is Carrie?" She softly replies.

"Yes, cause no matter how badly I wanted it to be you I see now that it was never really me for you and I deserve someone who chooses me and keeps choosing me for the rest of our lives."

Bette pulls me closer, grabs me in her arms and whispers "I choose you, now and forever. I promise..."

I couldn't hear more of her false promises that have only led to more lies and deceit, so I pull away from her and without a word I walk back towards my car.

On my way back home I couldn't resist thinking of Bette and what could have been. I wish she was a better woman... I wish she didn't lie and hide things.

But most of all...

I wish she was still mine.

I couldn't help but blame her for giving up on us long before I had.

If she hadn't treated me the way she had, we would've been married right now and her arms would be the one I'd wake up in every day. I couldn't help but mourn the future that we never had.

Even though a future without Bette wasn't a future I wanted to live, I felt as if I had no other option left. What choice did I have if she keeps lying and betraying me?

"Ciao bella, you're home soon." She plants a kiss on my lips and walks back towards the kitchen.

A delicious smell of a homecooked meal greeted me that lured me into the kitchen.

"Mmm... What are you making?"

Carrie smiles at me and puts some of the sauce on a spoon.

"Oh wow, that's amazing babe!"

Carrie nods and gladly accepts the compliment.

"My nonno used to make this all the time, I'm happy you like it."

I felt blessed to have an amazing wife like Carrie, I can't mess this up for yet another dramatic try at a relationship with Bette.

I just can't.
