Our honeymoon was perfect...
Carrie was perfect...
I was really dreading going home again where surely everyone would have a opinion about our secret wedding.
"Do we have to go back home?"
Carrie laughs.
"I'm serious Car... Why can't we move here? I don't want to go back."
The smile on Carries face is quickly replaced by worry.
"Is this about Bette?" She asks.
Carrie was reading me like a book.
I wish it wasn't about Bette, but I couldn't help it... Part of me didn't want to tell Bette, because I knew it would destroy her.
"You can't hide this, Ti..."
She was right, I have to tell Bette... No matter how painful it might be.
Nobody said I had to say it to her face though, so I grab my phone and text Alice.
"Car and I just got married x"
There. It will only take minutes before everyone finds out now.
I don't have to wait long before my phone starts buzzing like crazy, but I turn off my phone and cuddle up to Carrie.
"You did the right thing." She says and gives me a kiss on my forehead.
"I know..."
After laying safe in Carries arms for 30 minutes we really have to check out of the room that has been our comfortable love bubble for the past days.
On our way home I decide to check my phone again and notice a huge groupchat that Alice has started to spread the news.
While scrolling through the replies I notice that Bette has seen the messages, but hasn't replied.
Before I close Whatsapp again I notice a new number adding me.
It's Bette.
It was almost as if she was waiting for me to open the groupchat first.
"Congratulations. Too bad I missed it. 🙂"
The sarcasm was dripping off the message.
I decide not to reply and turn my phone off. It only took one beautiful smile of Carrie to be happy again.
When we are finally home again Carrie jumps into the shower. When I'm about to join her, the doorbell rings.
I open the door and see Bette standing before me with tears of desperation in her eyes...
"Why?" She asks with a crack in her voice.
I have no reply to her question... I was still processing everything that had happened myself.
"You have to leave, Bette."
I try to close the door, but she blocks the door from closing.
"Not without you..."
