Better Than Onions

CHAPTER 26

I can't breathe. Edward's betrayal hurt. Snape's betrayal... didn't hurt so much. But i could deal with both of them betraying me. I acn't deal with this.

I want to say so many things but for some reason my voice has stopped working.

"I thought we were friends" I funally manage to say. "I even thiught... that you liked me"

I cringe at how i sound. I feel like a five year ild.

"No sorry. I just wanted to get close to you" Chris Alfredo Rodriguez says calmly.

"Why?" I crsgh.

His eyes widen and he looks at Edward. "You mean she hasn't realised?"

Edward stares at the ground avoiding eye contact.

Chris laughs. "You're even dumber than i thought"

"So it was all a lie? Even when we were five? How could you have been planning this for so long?"

"Oh, we didn't meet when you were five" Chris says, yawning, as if he's bored with the conversation. "It's a fake memory. Sorry"

"But... what? I don't" I feel like my head is going to explode. I touch my forehead, my hands shaking.

"Is it too much for your tiny brain to understand?" Chris asks, mockingly.

I look up and try to glare at him. But uts so hard when you are looking at someone you thougt waa your best friend. I can't lpkk in his eyes so i stare at the door instead, trying not to let the tears show in my eyes. The door is the same ugly yellow colour as the walls

"So are you like a mafia boss or something? And are the Ed Clan your mafia servants who kidnap girls for you?" My voice shakes. I ahte how stupid and small he is making me feel.

The Ed Clan all look offended.

"Why would you say that?" Edward says.

"His ego is big enough already" Ed Sheeran says.

They all look at Spanish Edward, waiting. He looks at them, panicking. "Ummm... I'm eduardo"

"No it's not idiot" Chris growls. He sighs loudly. "I guess I'm part of their clan... but I'm... like Alvin in Alvin and the Chipmunks. I'm the most relevant and the most important. They are just my chipmunks"

Sudfenly, I have an idea. I pretend to look confused and i ask, "But how can you be a part of the Ed Clan if your name is Chris?"

The Ed Clan all look at each other, their mouths dropping open in surprise, and then turn to look at Chris suspiciously. Chris starts to look nervous.

"I.. uh... My name is Edchris! But the Ed is silent" he says quickly. Then he glares at me.

"So... Edward's name is Ward? I don't get the rules. If the Ed is silent in your name, shouldn't it be silent in everyone's name? Or maybe you should just change your name to Edchris because it's not-"

"SILENCE" Chris yells.

I stop talking but it's too late. The Ed Clan are already whispering to each other and glancing sceptically at Chris. I smirk at him.

He scowls back and tehn looks at the Ed Clan.

"Don't lisetn to her, clan. She's hust a stupid girl who doesn'5 knwo what she's talking about, ok? Be good chipmunks..."

While they are distracted, I quielsty walk towards towards the open door. Then i close it and silently run back to where i was standing.

Chris turns towards me, an evil look in his eyes. I try to look as innocent as possible. "You were asking about the boss, weren't you? Well, it's time to meet him. Ed, help me grab her. Edwards, grab the boy"
