It was night. a perfect night.
Especially a perfect night for two certain boys to learn how to get along... well, more to, actually.
"Thank you for saving me, shit face" said Severus as he inhaled his sigarette. James smiled. Severus was surprisingly beautiful under the moon, the scar on his face gently caressing his face. "No big deal..." said James as he faked-fixed his hair, trying to look smug. Severus rolled his eyes."I'm dead serious." Severus said, smiling lightly. "Without you I would have been dead for good. I own you, yeah?"
Severus said looking back at the moon; It was half-a-moon, Snape's favorite. "You're welcome, prince." James said grinning fondly. Severus was like the moon- he was overall Quiet, Serious, Composed. James, on the other hand, was the sun- warm, bright. Confidential. Severus looked at him, his eyes full of that unique spark only Severus Snape, the bastard, could have. "It's full of nargils, James." Severus Said, his eyes fixed on him in awe. "Nargils?" Asked James curiously, still fixed on Snape's face. "Yes, nargils. Dora said they only show up when a strong emotion does." Answered the dark haired boy, now admiring the moon once again. James realised he missed his eyes on him. "Dora as in Pandora? Lestrange?" James asked, snorting. "The one that always hangs out with Lovegood? Mrs Loony?" Ha added, laughing a bit. why on earth was Severus hanging out with her?"Don't call her that!" Snape said suddenly, turning to face him. "Pandora's brilliant. She's just...unique. But she's one of the smartest witches I know. And she's not a loony!" He added, protective, and James' heart broke a bit. "Sorry, sorry. You must really like her." He then said, still smiling. Sev's face turned into a little smirk- "Yeah, I do. She's absolutely amazing." And as he said that, he turned at the moon once again. James leg started moving on its own; He didn't know why, but the idea of Severus with anyone made him feel angry. No one deserved him, let alone that loony. "I never would have guessed you'd have a thing for blonds, Severus. You always ranted about how Marlene was just not you type." James said, as normally and non-spitefully as possible.
Severus bit the inside of his cheeks. He wasn't saying anything. After a minute of silence passed, James was mortified. Sev dropped his fag. "What's wrong? Have I said something I shouldn't have?" He asked, worried. Severus then smiled, it was little and almost imperceptible, but it was there. "I'd never date Pandora. And trust me, the hair colour is not the problem, prongs. In neither of them" Severus looked down, into the Hogwarts garden.
"I mean, I get it. Marls can be pretty intense from time to time. She looses her temper quite a bit, ahah! And honestly, as pretty as she may be, Lestrange it's way too-" James however didn't have time to finish his phrase, as He was interrupted by Severus.
"You don't understand, James." The air was becoming thick, so thick you could cut it with a knife. Severus was holding back, James could feel it. "Then what is it?" Prongs questioned, stroked. Snape looked at him. "Remember when I said there was never gonna be anything between me and Lily?" Severus asked. James eyes were fixated on him, trying to guess why that would be. "Yes, I do." He responded. Severus bit his lip. "I'm not... well, let's just say...ah, never mind. It doesn't matter. Just- I don't like them." Snape looked Like he wanted to say it, but couldn't bring himself to. "Sev, whatever it is, you know you can tell me." James said, trying to make Severus comfortable. He wondered what it could be, wondered what could possibly be the reason he-
Oh.
Oh.
It couldn't be. Was Severus?..."I'mintoguys." Said Severus, fast. "Sorry, can you repeat? I didn't really catch that." James said, trying to elaborate what Severus had just revealed, incredulous; Snape was really into blokes? No, it couldn't be, James surely misheard that- and yet, for some reasons, his heart started beating fast as Severus breath grew stronger.
"I'm into guys. Not gals. I'm- I'm gay." He said, still looking down. There was a moment of silence- James couldn't believe it. He was ridiculously happy, which made no sense at all. Why was he happy? He smiled brightly, as he felt butterflies in his stomach. "I hope you weren't afraid to tell me, you wanker!" Potter laughed.
"You know I'm also into guys, right?" He said, finally. Sev's eyes went wide, and his mouth agape. "You are?" He saw Severus go pink- his skin was way too light for him to hide his blushing. "Oh thank Salazar!" Snape exclaimed. "I was scared you'd- well, I was scared you'd be disgusted... but since you also..." He added, visibly relieved, but redder than Lily's Hair. He looked- well, adorable, but they would catch him dead before he would say it out loud. "Merlin, of course not. Was that why you were worried? Honestly?" James spoke before hugging him. "It's a fair fear, you know! There's many people who... well, you know. Plus I don't want to lose you now that we're... sorta friends, James." Friends. That didn't sound right.
Not when his name felt like honey on Severus' lips; it was tasty and sweet, but firm, almost too much to handle. James wanted nothing more but to show him how much he accepted him. In fact,he accepted him so much, that he would without a doubt suck his beautiful co- "James, are you there?" Severus asked, still in his embrace.
James felt like he was waking up from a trance. "I am, don't worry. Just thinking." And with that, he rested his right hand on Severus back and his left on his head, getting even closer to him. Sev melted under him. "We should probably head back. We don't want to face detention, yeah?" The beautiful bastard under him whispered.
"Yeah. But-" James was considering his next words. "How about we sleep in the room of requirements? It's been a while since I last went there, and I'm pretty sure you'll like it, so- " He impulsively said.
James looked flustered, probably because he was; He was worried Severus would be weird out, or scared, or think he wanted to- do stuff. he'd die before give the impression he wanted to use him. Oh what a bloody idiot he was, now he surely won't speak to him again, now he surely-
"I'd love that James." Severus said with a shy smile. It was almost like Severus could eat all his confidence up. He sorta liked the butterflies in his stomach. Made him feel alive. The night breeze rested upon their face. "Oh, well... let's go then, Princey" James announced smiling from ear to ear, like a fool. Severus playfully pushed him,and His stomach felt like dropping, -in a good way of course- for what seemed the millionth time that evening. Sev took his hand. James shivered, like had just been touched by Lily.
He came to the conclusion he probably liked Severus. Ok, yeah, he really liked Severus. But that was a problem he would deal with later on. Right now, he only wanted to enjoy this moment- wanted to have this.
When he was happy, it was usually with the others, Sirius, Peter and Remus; But right now? It was just him and Severus. And Severus made him feel happy. He could allow himself to be happy without worrying to make someone else feel better."Yeah, let's go..." Severus smiled his pale skin turning just a little bit pink yet again. In that moment, despite everything, he was the prettiest person James had ever seen- and he would murder anyone that said otherwise.
With that, they disappeared into the night, feeling nothing but each other's hands.
