"We will have to do that again very soon," Morgan toasted with the bottle of champagne. There were a couple of "here heres" but it was mostly just tipsy giggles. The Jeep Limo pulled in front of their apartment complex.
"Think of it, this time last year we were doing almost the exact thing, but four years ago was our wedding day...happy anniversary babe." Anna sighed once the other couples were out of the limo.
"...oh no. I'm- I'm so sorry..training and..oh god." Kris stuttered, distraught that he had forgotten such a day.
"No no it's okay, I completely get it." Silence. "Oh look we are here! Home sweet home."
She got out of the car first without stopping to wait on him, and unlocked the door heading straight to the room they shared. Kris followed behind wanting to make things right and explain himself. But before he could, she had gone to the bathroom to get ready for a good nights sleep. She emerged 15 minutes later,with sleepy eyes. Kris laid next to her brushing the hair off of her face and loosely braiding it. Anna turned over two inches from his face and gently kissed him on the cheek.
"This is exactly how I wanted it to be."
"You do so much for me-our family the least I could do is get you take out food or go catch a movie." Kris pleaded.
"There is one thing-" she was interrupted by tiny pitter patters hitting against the wooden floors.
"MOMMYYY!!DADDAAA!" Hudson shouted from the door way. They both sat up and welcomed him into their bear hug.
"daddy can we pwease go pway tomorrow? I want to kick and wun just like you." Kris chuckled, "of course bud maybe mom can join us if we ask her real nice."
Before both of them could ask her, she shook her head, "I can't play with your dad. He cheats." Hudson giggled "No daddy doesn't! U silly mommy."

There was a long silent pause as I noticed Hudson in Anna's arms, both looked so calm and peaceful it made me calm and collected. There was no point in moving Hudson back to his room so I put my head down and put my arms around my invincible perfect family. Morning rolled around as we awoke to the birds chirping and breeze blowing the curtains around with ease. Anna and bud were gone and I heard a thump and what seemed to be eggs cracking. Pancake day. I didn't bother putting on a shirt and found the whole crew crowded around my wife and lil Hudson laughing and mixing the batter.
"Morning sleepy head" a couple of the guys muttered to me as Anna came over and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "The guys were going to get some practice in but you were asleep so we made pancakes together. Come be the pancake flipper for me, your friends are failing at it." The grown men chuckled wanting to see how this was going to end for the poor pancakes, which didn't end too bad. As the guys finished up and left for another hardcore drill practice, Hudson and I decided to take a trip to the park where we met up with Abby and little baby Liv.
When we got there, they were already there, and I sent Hudson to go play with Liv while us moms chit chatted.
Abby sighed looking at the kids playing, "Did he end up remembering your anniversary?"
That question startled me considering I hadn't really told anyone about that, "No but he felt so bad you could tell he was mad at himself. I had a good time yesterday though, we went to a banquet and met up with everyone and hit a couple of clubs."
"Dang Momma you still got it in you? I thought the baby would've slowed you down."
"....wait what? Are you calling me fat because I'm certainly not prego!"
"Well...maybe you should start going to work out with Kris and Nick."
We looked each other in the eyes and laughed probably for too long but it felt good to not worry. After talking about everything from the weather, to upcoming vacations, we went our own ways back home.
Hudson was in the back babbling about going to see daddy at work.
Instead of taking the usual route home, we headed toward the arena. From the back you could see our little boys eyes widen with happiness.
This is what it's like to love life.
