MASON

"Mason... Mason!"

The first thing I seen was Jacey standing over me with a concerned expression on her face. Her hands were on my shoulders but she moved one to pat my cheek repeatedly.

I shook my head, snapping out of it. Air finally
made its way back into my lungs, a sharp gasp breaking out of me. Jacey sighed with relief then handed me a glass of water.

"Drink, now," she ordered, bringing it closer to
me.

With hesitation, I grabbed it and chugged it until it was halfway gone. She backed away as I sat up straighter, wiping the sweat from my forehead. I shut my eyes slowly, letting out a small breath before finishing the water I had left.

"At least you're awake now. How bad was it?" She asked.

"As bad as it always is," I sighed, rubbing my nose.

"Well, fix yourself up. We're about to land."

Right, almost forgot. We're on a plane back home, to see our parents. While out, I received a call that my parents suffered from a bomb attack. The explosion did so much damage, it put our mother and father in a coma.

Not only were Jacey and I called back to see them, but we now have to take control over the business. With my parents out, it's our responsibility and opportunity to take care of our family legacy.

"Make sure your shit is packed," Jacey yelled from the back.

"Yeah, yeah."

Running a hand through my hair, I stood up and went to the room to grab my things. I will admit, the idea of going back home was nerve wracking. No one wants to see their parents in that position. I definitely don't.

We never did agree on things much, but I wouldn't wish this on them.

Then again... I won't have to deal with the constant arguing.

But that's not the point.

"Mr and Ms. Pierce, we will be landing shortly. Please make sure all belongings and
persons are secured as we reach our destination."

Jacey plopped back into her seat with a sigh then moved her eyes to the window. Her leg bounced slightly while she tapped her finger on the armrest. Her nerves were bad, it was obvious. And I don't blame her.

"I never imagined this is how we'd have to hear about our parents after 3 years. Doesn't feel real," she whispered.

I didn't even know what to tell her. Maybe if I stayed home, we could've prevented it. But I, along with others, knew why I had to go. It was too dangerous. It seems like it was more dangerous since we weren't there.

"There's nothing we can do about it, Jacey. All we can do is stay by their side until they wake up and watch over the business," I responded.

She nodded without a response and continued looking out of the window.

The rest of the plane ride was completely silent. There wasn't much that needed to be said. The house is gonna be quieter, since it'll just be Jacey and I. But, work is going to be taking over now, so it's not like we'll have much to do besides that.
