LYRA

These past few weeks have been oddly good. I'll admit that I had my doubts with Mason in the beginning after everything that happened, but I'm glad we took things slow. With all the dates and the communication, the reminiscing... it's been amazing. I didn't know it was possible for old feelings to not only come back but grow even stronger than when you first felt them.

That's exactly what I've been feeling with him during everything. Which is why it'll be heartbreak number two if this gets messed up. For once, I'm going to be hopeful and stick to the positives. Tonight, Mason's mom wants to have dinner with me. If that isn't awkward enough, I don't know what'll happen during this dinner especially with how tense it has been at their home.

My mind was running with all of the possibilities of what could happen tonight. So, I distracted myself like I always do by working. And by working, I mean forcing Noah and Harley to train with me.

They slowly circled around me with staffs in their hands, spinning it fluently between their fingers. My eyes glanced between them constantly, trying to figure out who would move or attack first. I looked down at Noah's feet then quickly spun around, swinging my foot towards Harley when she rushed at me. She quickly ducked and swung at my feet that I jumped over then kicked Noah away.

With each swing, I blocked with my forearms before I dropped down and clipped her ankles with my foot. Noah came at me without his weapon and a smirk on his face. I cracked my neck and grinned, shifting my position slightly and that's when he ran towards me.

Blows were thrown with a mixture of grunts when dodging and groans when hits landed. I jumped up then spun with a kick that he easily blocked before knocking me down as soon as I landed. With a grunt, I quickly hopped back up and grabbed the staff Harley was no longer using.

"You're good, Blackstone," Noah smirked, spinning a staff in his hand.

"So are you, Miller," I mocked, spinning it in my hand then swinging.

Noah ducked down then we began trading blows with immense concentration. Sweat was dripping down my forehead and neck and the slight breeze that was blowing was hardly helping. Harley was leaning against the way giving her occasional motivational yells.

I dropped down and swung at his feet then drove my foot to his chest, knocking him on the ground.

"Ha!" I pointed the staff at his neck, breathing heavily.

His hands flew up in surrender and his chest heaved with each breath. I smirked then helped him up, tossing my staff down then patting his shoulder.

"Something's definitely on your mind. You're never that focused," Harley spoke, handing me my water bottle.

"I'm having dinner with Mason's family tonight," I rushed out before chugging water.

"Damn... I wonder how that's going to go," Noah said, leaning beside him.

"So do I. Everything is so tense there already," I muttered then sighed. "I've met his family already, so I have no clue why I'm so nervous."

"Maybe because it's been years since the last dinner. You'll be your normal sexy self and it'll all go well," Harley quickly said. "So don't sweat it."

I nodded with a deep breath then glanced at the door where Clyde was currently standing with his arms crossed. I sighed and stood up, walking out then closing the door behind me.

"What is it?" I questioned.

"Tomorrow, we're gonna have lunch."

"I- what?" I sputtered, blinking a few times.
