MASON

She kissed me.

I couldn't tell if she regretted it or not but her eyes were still stuck on mine. She never moved her arm from around my neck and didn't say anything about my hand still on her waist.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to kiss her again. But then again, I couldn't fully tell what was going through her head. Lyra was always one that was hard to read. Even if she blatantly spat out how she felt, it was still hard to tell.

When I cupped her cheek, it seemed like she came back to reality. But it didn't stop her from leaning into my hand, letting out a small sigh.

"You have my mind spinning, Mason," she sighed again. "I wish I could say it was the damn alcohol."

I couldn't hold back the small laugh.

"I would say that's a good thing but you're tipsy, Lyra. It most likely is the alcohol," I told her, holding her up.

She shook her head, gently pushing my hand away.

"I shouldn't be doing this," she mumbled.

But she was saying it more to herself then to me. Right when she walked off, Griffin came running to my side, reeking of alcohol but he looked perfectly fine.

"That Harley girl... I think I'm serious about her," he yelled, gently patting my shoulder.

"Griffin, you've said that about every woman you told me about. What makes her different?" I questioned.

"I don't know... it's just something about her. B-But I really like her and it isn't just the alcohol talking. I want to see if I can make this work."

I sighed, "Alright, we'll see. But don't fuck this one up. She's friends with Lyra and you don't want to get on her bad side. Got it?"

"Yeah, yeah. I got it," he waved me off. "What's going on with you and Lyra anyways?"

"I don't know, I..." I sighed again, running a hand down my face. "I know I have to be honest about everything, but I don't know if she'd believe me or listen to me."

"You just have to... let faith decide that. You can either be honest... or leave her alone. That's your only options, Mason. Take it or leave it, man," he said, leaning against the wall beside me.

"And if it goes wrong?"

"Then at least you'll know."

Chewing on my lip, I glanced over at Lyra who was laughing at something Harley said. She had a cup to her mouth, her head resting on Harley's shoulder.

I don't even think I go a chance to mention it, but she looks amazing. Even though it was a simple black dress, it made every little curve on her body stand out. She always was able to make something so simple look outstanding on her.

How could I let someone like her go?

"Mason... Mason!"

I blinked continuously before looking at Griffin who had a lopsided grin.

"If I wouldn't have snapped you out of it, you probably would've been drooling," he chuckled.
