6 MONTHS LATER

There's hasn't been a single word about the downfall of Clyde Celestine. Not from us or the people still left over at the organization.

Some have even admitted that they were threatened into working for him. He had people watching their families, taking kids, everything of the sort.

Only sick shit that Clyde would do.

Their loyalty has been tested, so I kept them. For now. They're already on thin ice, so one slip up and they get fucked up.

But for the most part, I've been working from home. As much as I love being where the action is, I deal with the technical and paperwork stuff. I only go in if I absolutely have to, which is almost never.

Not like Mason would let me leave anyway.

I've been talking to my parents a whole lot more after everything. After being in the hospital for so long, we found out that my dads vocal chords were damaged. He had to get a surgery procedure done to repair them, and he'll always have a deep rasp to his voice when speaking.

It isn't too hard to hear, but he can't overdo himself and his throat gets dry very fast if he talks for too long.

Mom is the happiest she's ever been. We've all been spending a lot of time together as a family, catching up and getting to know each other. Again. But it's been worth it and I love it.

Harley and Noah? We know them, they're still the same badasses they've always been. They're kind of like my right hand men now and they like the job a lot more than I thought they would.

No complaints from them and none from me.

"Mom, it's only been a week," I chuckled, sitting on the bed.

"A week is too long, Ly. I'm going through a daughter withdrawal," she responded, a hint of pout in her voice.

"I'll be back before you know it. We needed this trip as much as you two needed yours."

Looking over at Mason, I smiled when he handed me a glass of wine and brought a plate down in front of me.

"Thank you, my love."

He pecked my lips, smiling.

"Anytime. That your mom on the phone?"

"It is. She's going through abandonment issues with me right now."

"Hey, hey! Don't go around saying that."

"It's just the truth," I laughed, tipping my head back. "I promise I'll call before you head off to bed, okay?"

"Alright, alright. Have fun!"

I hung up and stood to my feet, going out to the balcony and looking over the railing. We managed to get a place right next to the beach, so we could hear the sounds of the ocean right next to us.

Mason specifically wanted the spot since he thought I'd love it. And I do.

He's had to rip my laptop out of my hands numerous times because I kept getting lost in work instead of actually relaxing. Gotta break out of that habit for sure.
