I've never been more grateful to have two best friends. Until they get on my everlasting nerve. I don't know why I thought having both of them in the car at the same time would be a good idea.
Their mouths run a thousand miles a minute and it makes my head pound.
"Get your dick infested hands out of my face," Noah yelled at her, slapping her hand.
"You just touched these hands, idiot. Now what does that make you?" Harley mumbled.
"A victim."
I rolled my eyes and kept my eyes on the road, fighting my grip on the wheel. They're bickering continued until Harley reached towards the back, slapping Noah's arms. Clenching my jaw, I slammed on the breaks, making both of them fly forward.
Noah hit the seat but Harley didn't make it that far due to the seatbelt.
"Lyra! What the hell?" Harley yelled, her hand over her chest.
"I didn't know I was a mother of two," I snapped. "You two are damn old to be arguing like children. Now, if one more person yells in my ear, they'll be walking back. Got that?"
"Consider it gotten," Noah mumbled, slouching.
"I guess," Harley added in, fixing her position in the seat.
Taking a deep breath, I started driving again and shook my head. Messing with these two, having children won't ever cross my mind. I get enough headaches with work as it is.
"So how's tonight going down anyways?" Noah asked, leaning closer to my seat.
"We're gonna go to the party as if we're normal guests. Converse with some people, drink some champagne... then we find the target and we'll go from there," I told them, taking a sip of my energy drink.
"And if all goes to shit?" Harley asked.
"Then when we finish our job; whatever it takes to get it done."
They both nodded and I brought my eyes back to the road. Everyone has their attire for tonight already and the items we need are already at the organization. So, we're pretty much all set.
We still had time to kill and I had no clue what to do. Well-
"It's Clyde," Harley spoke as my phone began to ring.
I stopped at a red light and took that opportunity to answer it. Putting it on speaker, everyone's ears were at attention.
"Lyra. I assume everyone else are with you?" Clyde asked, his authoritative voice coming through the speaker.
"Yes, sir," We all answered.
"Good. There's a meeting starting soon and we need you three to be there."
"Is it important?" I questioned.
"All of our meetings are important. Now, get over here."
I sighed.
"On my way."
After hanging up the phone, I sped off towards the building. The last thing I wanted to do was go to a meeting, but now I pretty much have no choice to. This better be worth my time or I'm gonna be pissed.
When we made it to the building, I was the first to hop out and go inside. My hair was messily tied up and the urge to go back home was off the charts.
Everyone greeted me as I walked down the hall and to the meeting room, eventually being met with impatient eyes. Harley and Noah went to their seats and I sat at mine; next to Clyde.
