SING ME A SONG

THE APARTMENT WASN'T THAT LARGE. It had two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, kitchen, and some furniture. It was meant to fit, at max, four people. So to have three demigods, two mortal adults, and a giant Hellhound. It was a tight fit.

"Who put this wall of fur in the doorway?" Paul Bolfis' voice called out from the bedroom. Way back in the fall when Sally knew that Aryas adoption was actually going to happen, her and Percy sat down and explained everything to Paul, if he was going to marry into the family he deserved to know exactly what he was getting into, but it was hard to believe something of that magnitude until you actually saw it.

"Percy?" my mom called out. "Are you here? Are you alright? Is Arya with you?"

"I'm here! She is too!" Percy called back.

Mrs. O'Leary started barking and spinning in a circle, attempting to find Sally, the hellhound was knocking every picture off the wall and Arya had to go rush to calm her down, but it didn't really work out and the dog destroyed most of the furniture.

Eventually, they got Sally and Paul out of the bedroom, and the five of them took a seat at the table while Nico got Mrs. O'Leary to take a rest in the living room.

Paul poured everyone lemonade while Arya and Percy explained what happened at May Castellan's house.

"So it's true." Paul looked between the kids with both disbelief and amazement. "All the talk about monsters, and being a demigod . . . it's really true."

"Sorry about Mrs. O'Leary," Percy said, "destroying the living room and all."

Paul seems to be taking all the information incredibly "Are you kidding? This is awesome! I mean, when I saw the hoofprints on the Prius, I thought maybe. But this!"

"Also sorry about that," Arya told him. "I just feel like it would be common sense for any person or talking animal not to ruin a car, but I guess not."

Paul waved it off going over to Mrs. O'Leary and petting her snout making her tail wag so hard Arya was sure the floor would collapse in.

"Thanks for not freaking out," Percy said appreciably as he smiled at his Stepdad.

"Oh, I'm freaking out," he promised, his eyes wide. "I just think it's awesome!"

Arya laughed at the awkward man.

"Yeah, well," Percy said, "you may not be so excited when you hear what's happening."

From there Percy launched into everything. With Arya there for back-up. He told his mom about Typhon and the battle that was coming, he told them Nico's plan and how the demigods were going to have to fight.
