STANDING UP TO DEATH

MRS. O'LEARY HAD NO DOUBTS, she was more than happy to take the lead. She bounded down the stairs as fast as she could barking, excited to be home.

Arya felt a little bad, the dog had been at camp for a year and a half that Arya had known, not to mention how long she had been with Quintus/Daedalus before that. The teenager didn't know when the last time Mrs. O'Leary had been home.

Arya could relate to an extent. She wanted to leave camp, move on with her life, but she wouldn't know what to do if she was away from camp, if she wasn't able to return when she wanted to. Arya was happy that the Hellhound got to see the place she was most comfortable.

The daughter of Poseidon's trident was in her hand, the carving's on it glowed in the dark and gave them a sea green aura. Percy's sword did the same thing. Together it made enough light for all three demigods to see about ten feet ahead of them to make sure they weren't going to step to their doom.

They walked forever, at one point Nico started lagging behind and Percy called him out on it. Nico insisted he was fine before catching back up. It had to have been a few hours of walking before they reached the bottom and Arya was just thankful they were going down and not up. Normally Arya enjoyed conversation to pass the time but the tensions were so high that no one could get their mind off of what was coming, and none of them wanted to talk about that.

Arya briefly wondered if there was a chance they would run into Charles, but the way Nico talked about the amount of dead people that resided into the Underworld, she didn't want to get her hopes up.

Once the steps ended they came out on a cliff to their left, a long way off, was the fire and walls of Erebos, Hades kingdom. To their right, was the River Styx roaring in their ears.

"That's convenient." Arya said as she dropped her trident and hit her gauntlets twice to make it disappear before it landed in the river.

She had been here before, well, not on this cliff, but she had passed the River on her way to talk to Hades two years ago. She didn't really take the time to sight see anything because she was on a mission.

Mrs. O'Leary brought over the fibula of a skeleton and dropped it in front of Percy who denied her, she then brought it over to Arya who put the bone on her foot and kicked it away so she wouldn't have to pick it up. The dog barked happily and trotted after it.
