⭐⭐⭐Aisha's POV
For a few minutes, I sat in my bed, cuddling the pillow with my hand tightly pressing my lips to not let him hear my sobs. The full force of alone I was or how much I was missing him hit me like a brick in my face. My stomach felt as if the veins inside had twisted and given birth to the butterflies, sending wave after wave of belonging and comfort to my heart.
"Hey, I missed you so much," I said, breathing with an open mouth as the water flowed down my nose.
"You still cry like a nasty cow."
"No. I don't. You still laugh like a donkey choking on the air."
"Hey! That was rude," He scoffed. I smirked.
"No, it wasn't. So, how is everything over there?" I asked, smiling as I twirl a strand of my hair in between my fingers.
He sighed, probably resting his head on the headboard as I heard a wood cracking sound. "Everything is... well as it was 4 years ago. This time I guess I will be standing in the elections from our area. Today, I went to the local market like a spy and talked to people and vendors. They said they did not know that they do not have to give taxes to cross the bridge according to the weight of their trucks. Let's see. I also uhm- met someone?!"
I knew this had to do something with my uncle's goons who bullied the innocent small businessmen to earn the money they didn't deserve for the free snacks. If bhaiya won the election- wait! what?
"What did you say?" I asked, my eyes turning wide as I blinked.
He met someone, and what was that in his low whisper? nervousness?
"Mmm... well, I mean I just saw her from the distance and our eyes kinda connected. What's the big deal?"
"Oh! Cut the crap. Tell me everything. And I mean every tiny winey detail of this mysterious girl." I inhaled a deep breath, clutching my phone close to my ears as if I was about to listen to a secret worth national security. Well, not national but his security.
I sighed deeply. Finally! Finally, my dumb big brother had started looking after himself.
"She is a reporter. Her name is Evanya, Eva for short and I met her three months ago. You know how these election campaigns are... so we spent time other than the interviews and uh- I asked her number. Now we are looking forward to what is gonna happen next." He said, making a slurry sound as he sipped his drink.
I cringed, wrinkling my nose in disgust. "First of all, don't make that sound when you drink. I am pretty sure you did not grow up around pigs, otherwise, how would you have similar traits? Second of all, I am so happy for you. Seriously, I hope she is the one for you and you are getting old. 31 is like the ultimatum for the ladies and god! according to them, you should have been married five years ago. But, I hope things will work out with you two. And... just be cautious. I don't want my dear brother to cry for a girl."
A chuckle escaped his lips, filling the silence of my room. He was the only family I had, yet I was bound to restrictions to talking to him or seeing him. My heart ached again, threatening me to spill tears. I took the water from the glass and gulped three mouth fulls to wet the dryness and constrict the tightness of my throat.
