Aisha's POV
"What the fuck is she doing here, brother?" Reine asked.
I looked at the girl standing behind Mr McOwen. She had dirty blond straight hair, styled in the middle partition. The round eyes were painted in a wing eyeliner under the layers of make-up. But, her lips... Painted in red it looked like she had tubes under her lips. I guess she had some work done on her lips, not that I was judging. The black spaghetti strap dress hugged her in all the right places, giving a glimpse of her hourglass figure.
"Language!" Mr McOwen glared at Riri, who was burning in rage. He tilted his head, looking at Aaron with narrowed eyes. They were replicas of each other. "I only expected the family and friends to be at the dinner, son."
Having said that, he walked out of the room to the left. Riri did not break her fierce glances at the girl. I looked between her and Aaron, not realising the rose smell invading my senses.
She looked at me. No, she examined me from top to bottom, making me knit my brows. "Who are you?" She asked.
"She is none-of-your-god-damn-business, bitch." Riri said, as her upper lip curved in a snarl.
"Oh, Reine, sweety. You are always in a bad mood. Why, dear? Don't interrupt your elders."
"Can't help the bad vibes I get from you, Vanessa."
Is she the one he was talking to when I stayed in his apartment?
"I've never seen you. Are you Reine's friend?" She tilted her head, looking into my eyes.
"No, I am Aaron's friend."
A breathless laugh escaped her lips. "Since when you started making friends, babe?"
My eyebrows touched the ceiling. She was the one he talked to on the phone that day. But, I had to agree with RiRi. Vanessa indeed had a bad vibe, and I was not a fan of the silly smirk on her face. The looks she was giving me were making me uncomfortable that I wanted to stay kilometres away from her.
What surprised me more was that Aaron had not uttered a single word since she entered the room, as if his lips were stitched together. His jaw was locked; the muscles moving from time to time. But his eyes sent cold stares at Vanessa as if he would freeze her and then break her with a hammer.
I shivered at the thought. Aaron closed his eyes, exhaling an audible sigh as he opened his mouth to speak. But, RiRi grabbed me by the arm and pulled me in the direction her father went. She ran like a bullet train, dragging me with her to the secluded area.
On entering the kitchen, my eyes fell out of the sockets and rolled over the floor. I gawked at the exquisite black marble kitchen counter with golden borders, complimenting the black table in the middle.
To my extreme left stood grandma, sipping the sparkling wine as her eyes landed on us. "Hey, grandma."
To her right, Mr McOwen stood with his arms wrapped around a lady, which I assume was his wife. Petite figure with big eyes, black hair, looking elegant in baby pink coat pants. "Mom, meet Aisha. She is Aaron's and my best friend." Riri said.
My head snapped to my right at RiRi, who was glowing with a grin on her face. My friendship was not something to be proud of. "Oh, am I?"
She rolled her eyes. Mrs McOwen came to me and engulfed me in a hug. A rush of warmth filled my heart, making it hard for me to breathe. The hug was almost as if... As if my mother was there. I wrapped my hands around her back. She pulled away, a toothy grin spreading over her lips as she cupped my left cheek. Oh, God! "This little brat doesn't stop talking about you. Thank you for helping my son, he mentioned how you helped him wake up on time."
