Los Angeles, 1995.

"Foxy, Pat? Is anyone home?" Diane almost leaps off the couch when she hears Dave's voice coming from the hallway behind her. "Fuck Dave, you almost gave me a blow to the heart." She turned around, watching out of the corner of her eye the dark-haired man approach the sofa with his usual quiet step. "I love you too, you know." He printed a kiss on her head without caring about her too much, leaving her there and heading to the fridge in the kitchen next to her. "I'm starving." He stated as if to justify himself, and by doing that he made the redhead roll her eyes before going back to read her book. "Don't you have any rehearsal today? I'm trying not to go crazy, we have to finish the album and William's tracks are getting more and more... difficult, I should say. By the way: where is Pat? We were supposed to meet up here half an hour ago, obviously I arrived late but hey, he sure beats me. " Meanwhile, he had already came back to the living room with the half sandwich that the girl had left for later on the kitchen counter, biting into it as if he hadn't eaten in days. Because of his constant talking, Diane took her book next to her and closed it, leaning it against her on the sofa and then sitting down and giving a more fake smile than anything else to the dark-haired man. "Yes, yes, I know. But talk to me, you'll have more time to read." - "Bold of you to assume I have more free time." Now it was Dave who rolled his eyes, finishing his meal before putting his arm around the redhead's shoulders. "I hope your busy schedule hasn't made you forget that the Alanis concert at the Forum is tonight." Asked the dark-haired man leaning his head on Diane's for a few seconds since she immediately stood up. "Is it tonight? I totally forgot." She whimpered as she started walking around the room. "There's no reason to despair, Foxy. I knew it would turn out like this, don't hate me, so I took steps to secure seats." Diane crossed her arms over her chest, peering from head to toe at the singer who kept his gaze fixed on her, placing his hands on things. "Excuse me, you are right, Mr. Grohl. How did I not think that thanks to you we could go even without warning!" - "I think you should just say <<thank you>>." The redhead didn't give him time to get up that she threw herself into his arms, holding him tightly to her. "You know what I meant. You know me too well to don't know, stupid." She printed a light kiss on his lips that made him smile, it was rare for Diane to show any affection towards her friends and there were no half measures when it came to it, from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. "Now I have to take the <<stupid>> too." After looking at the clock after hanging on the wall, Dave gives her a light pat on her back to get her back on the couch before getting up. "Well, I think I'll go straight to the studio and try to fix some tracks. If you see Pat, tell him to join me there." Diane nodded, following him and walking him to the door. "I'll tell him when he gets back. Maybe he just wasted time with Joan." She added with a shrug before leaning against the door jamb. "So yeah, well ... I'd like to introduce you to someone tonight, dress smart!" He started running towards her, not leaving her time to reply. She was dumbfounded, raising her hands in mid-air and trying to rephrase the sentence in her head. When did it ever happen that she was dressed badly?

Later...

As soon as they arrived at the Forum, the first thing Diane did was run to the bathroom: this "healthy" lifestyle that she had been trying to undertake for a few months apart from this was literally consuming her, one of the things she hated most was having to turn any bathroom in the city to go to expel the 3 liters of water that she had set herself to drink daily. "Is the snow you sniff also included in your nutrition plan?" Dave would often tell her, most of the time getting punches on the arms from the redhead. "As if you were in a position to speak, Eric." She always retorted, still remaining in the rotten wrong. "You keep comparing coke to alcohol as if you don't know they are two different things." Of course he was right, but she kept contradicting him, all the time, until he pulled Pat out in the conversation, threatening her to tell him everything. Only there ended their almost daily discussion.

Leaving the bathroom, Diane saw her reflection in the mirror and she decided to linger for a few minutes: the California heat wasn't terrible, she couldn't complain at all, but today the temperatures were particularly high. She tried to fix her hair as best she could, she touched up the overline of her lips with the nude lip-pencil and in the meantime her eye fell on her purse. A line before the concert wouldn't hurt. She thought before setting everything up on the edge of the sink. After inhaling the white powder, she arched her back bringing hes head back with her eyes closed and two fingers on her nostrils, savoring the moment in peace. "Jesus Christ." - "Not really, but I could use some of your sugar, what do you say sister?" The redhead turned abruptly towards the voice that had interrupted her with an expression between frightened and annoyed. "Who the fuck are you? And why are you in the ladies' room?" She took her bags back and hid everything inside it before walking towards the blond who, with the cigarette filter between his lips, giggled as he watched the girl's reaction." Diane Larkin, oh shit. " The redhead, feeling threatened by the fact that he knew who she was, grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him with his back to the wall. "If you dare to say anything to anyone, whether it's your idiot friends or the press, consider yourself dead." He raised his hands in surrender without taking off that mocking smile that was getting on her nerves. "I won't say anything, don't worry. But you are gonna make me do a line, just to be even." Diane showed him her middle finger before running out of the bathroom, getting lost in the corridors of the Forum, trying to get as far away as possible from there.

"Diane, my sister." Alanis raised her arms to the sky when she saw her in the distance, making the girl smile before hugging her tightly. "The Queen of Alt-Rock Angst in flesh and blood! It's been a while." The tallest hugged her, kissing her head softly. "Always with your maternal attitude, you're the same." The Canadian laughed, squeezing the redhead's hands in hers. "Were you lost?" Dave questioned as he popped up from inside the dressing room before taking a sip of the beer he was holding. "Apparently it's very easy to get lost in here, also our... " - " HAWKINS!" Dave yelled, not giving Alanis time to complete the sentence. "Dave Grohl!" The blond ran into the singer's arms, starting to jump with him when they found themselves facing each other. Diane took a deep breath, trying to keep the calm when her gaze met the blond who, not very surprised, approached the two girls with Dave. "Taylor, she is a dear friend of mine ..." - "Diane Larkin, I know who she is. Her fame precedes her." The drummer took her hand and, bending slightly in front of her, kissed the back of it with a noble manner, leaving the girl slightly confused.

This guy would bring a lot of trouble.
