It was Meiying and Silver's fault for mentioning the artifact. A special puzzle box that allowed the holder to go back in time. Wukong tucked the artifact away as he took in his surroundings. He recognized the mountain range and he only had a small amount of time. No one knew he went back in time but he had to fix a mistake he made.

Scaling down the mountain, he did his best to navigate to his desired location. If he could reach it in time maybe he could help Macaque.

His biggest regret had always been the day he killed his best friend/lover. If he could change that, maybe there was hope for their future. He smelled the familiar scent of iron in the air and a scream reached his ear. He headed off in that exact direction knowing there wasn't much time left.

Macaque cupped his left eye in pain and whimpered as tears filled his other eye. Sun wukong raised his staff ready to deal the final blow. The demon monkey's eye widened and fear filled them "p-peaches?"

Sun tried to ignore the nickname, Macaque tried to kill his master he couldn't let that slide. Before he could bring down his staff it was caught in a familiar hand. The monkey kings eyes widened as he took in what seemed to be an older version of himself. Macaque seemed frozen in his spot but grateful for the interference.

"Don't do it" Wukong tried to plead "this is our biggest regret."

"He tried to kill tripitaka" he tightened his grip on the staff "he'll try it again."

"I-im sorry" Macaque shrunk in his spot.

The future Wukong looked at him and flinched, the poor monkey was hurt bad. He always hated that scared look in Macaque's eyes that day. He turned back to himself and sighed.

"It's our fault he did it" Wukong pleaded "we abandoned him, we left him in the dark, he was upset."

The younger version lowered his staff losing the strength to continue. The demons ears perked up at the motion.

"Why are you here?" Younger Wukong shot a glare at his older self.

He looked back at Macaque then at himself "when I found out a way to turn back time, I knew I wanted to fix the biggest mistake of my life."

"Peaches?"

The older Wukong knelt down to the shadow demon monkey "mango I'm so sorry I hurt you."

Macaque looked at him then to his own Wukong "I-I'm sorry, I promise I'll leave and never bother you again."

Sun dropped his staff "I don't want that, I'm sorry I left you behind but this journey is important."

Wukong smiled at the two "please try to talk it out, I miss having my mango."

With that he made sure to leave the scene, it was up to them to figure it out. The younger Wukong watched his older self leave then knelt down to Macaque. The full impact of the wound he inflicted hit the sage and he felt aweful for it. Ripping off a part of his sleeve he wrapped up the monkeys injured eye.

"Do you really care for that Buddhist?" Macaque's voice was soft.

"At first not really, and the circlet he gave me pissed me off" Wukong flicked the golden headband.

"So your being forced" the demon pouted.

"At first yea but now I need to see this journey through" Wukong took the others hands in his "I should have explained it before."

"I shouldn't have assumed" Liu er looked down.

Wukong thought it over, he smiled as an idea hit "join us!"

"Huh?"

"Join our group! Tripitaka could use the extra protection and I'm so close to pushing pigsy off a cliff."

Macaque looked down with a small blush clear on his cheeks. If he joined he could be with his king as much as he wanted. Wukongs fingers intertwined with his and he pressed his forehead to Liu er's.

"I wanna make it all up to you mango."

Macaque gave a small nod agreeing to joining the group. Wukong scooped the monkey up into his arms with a happy chirp.

"Don't worry I'll carry you up, I'll make sure your all better."

The demon was left flustered as his king made quick work of carrying him up a few cliffs. Reaching a campfire he saw his new group of friends. Sandy was the first to see the monkey's and waved them over. Tripitaka was truly worried about his disciple and was relieved to see him ok. Pigsy sent a glare at both monkeys, not a fan of either.

"Liu er is going to join us!" Wukong grinned.

"Are you an idiot? He'll kill the master when our back is turned!" Pigsy groaned not wanting to deal with this.

Wukong shot the pig demon a glare an went to shoot a retort back. Tripitaka allowed the two to argue and focused on the demon monkey. He held his hand out to the other, Macaque took it timidly.

"Welcome to the journey."

Macaque was embarrassed as his tail wagged behind him.

"Mk welcome to your first day of training!" Wukong grinned.

Mk held the staff close to his chest still a little star struck by the monkey king. Macaque chuckled as he watched the two, his hands full with the baby monkey in his arms. The small monkey chirped and trilled for its fathers attention. The noise caught the monkey kids attention and he focused on the baby.

"So cute!" He squealed.

Macaque chuckled "he is but he is also a trouble maker like his papa."

Wukong pressed a kiss to Macaque's forehead and booped the infants nose. He recieved a happy chirp and grabby hands from the baby.

"Not right now sweetie, papa has to train his successor" the shadow monkey cooed.

"Look alive kid!"

Mk screeched as Wukong came at him, training started that second.
