The demon sat on top of the bull families roof, enjoying the lite breeze and sunshine. He missed the sound of the birds and the far off noises of the occupants of the home. He buried his face into his scarf and hugged his legs close to his chest. He spent so long training his ears and for nothing. He appreciated everything the bull family has done for him but he felt useless and scared.

His fur bristled and the monkey's head popped up in panic when he felt something brush up next to him. Sitting to his left was none other than the Monkey king himself. Angry washed over the demon but fear kept him from moving. When the great sage started to move Macaque watched cautiously, ready to bolt if he had to.

Wukong had pulled out a notebook and pen, Macaque tilted his head confused. His nerves started to settle down as he watched the king start to write in the book. When he was done the golden monkey held it out to the demon. Gold eyes locked with yellow as the demon slowly took the book. He could tell the king was uncomfortable, his eyes warped between worried, guilt and possible fear? He looked down at the book in his paws.

'I'm not here to fight, I just want to apologize.'

The shadow demon shoved the notebook back to the king "i dont want your meaningless apology."

While the golden monkey was writing a bird caught the demons eye. He watched it land on the edge of the roof, hop around probably looking for food. He felt the tap of the notebook against his leg and with a sigh he took it back.

'I know an apology won't make up for everything but I do want fix it or make it better.' Macaque's brows furrowed in annoyance.

He handed the notebook back "I give up" the demon sighed "i wanted to make you pay for every time you hurt me...."

The monkey king fiddled with the pages to nervous and guilty to look the other in the eyes. Macaque on the other hand felt like his lungs were being crushed as he tried to get his thought out.

"....but I get hurt every time, so I'm just gonna stop."

The king was at a loss for words, he didn't want to lose the other again. He didn't know how to fix anything, all he knew how to do was be pushy and stubborn. With out thinking the golden monkey started writing, short yet rushed and written really choppy.

He held up the book to the demon with a serious face 'I'M NOT LETTING YOU GO!!'

the demon's brows furrowed in annoyance "can't you just accept the win?"

The king looked down again, writing slowly this time. He slid the book onto Macaque lap.

'We have alot of problems sure and I haven't reached out before. I'm sorry I let it get this bad between us but I do miss having my old friend. Liu er I don't want you to leave me alone.'

Gold eyes glanced over at the monkey king. the golden monkey was fidgeting with his robes to embarrassed to look at the other. He placed the notebook in his own lap rereading the words.

"I'm sorry to, I dont exactly help when I antagonize you."

He watched as a small smile spread on the others face. He watched the kings chest vibrate a bit and assumed it was a chuckle.

"If we are going to work through this you need a better way to communicate, your hand writing is awful." Macaque gave the other small smirk.

The golden monkey playfully punched the demon's shoulder. They spent the next few hours passing the notebook back and forth and just having a calm conversation.

Red Son growled in frustration as Wukong sat there hopelessly. So far the monkey king had gotten every sign wrong and he couldn't remember most of the meanings. It probably didn't help that princess iron fan was glaring at him from the doorway.

She still wanted to strangle the monkey but since him and Macaque had a truce she was trying to behave. Macaque watched from the door, he was honored and amused at Wukong's attempts to learn sign language. As gifted as the king was when learning new things, Macaque wanted to find an easier method for him.

The demon tapped Iron Fans shoulder "I have to go find a friend."

Meiying held up a set of necklaces to the monkey's. Wukong picked one up curious about the glass ball the metal wrapped around.

"Where did you get telekinesis necklaces?" The king stared at the fox.

"Let's just say it's a stupid prank my lover played on me" she huffed rolling her eyes.

Macaque stared at the two feeling helpless. They weren't writing anything or using sign language so he had no idea what was going on. The fox came over to the demon and gently placed the necklace on him. She motioned for Wukong to do the same thing. The king put the necklace on and huffed not sure how to work it.

'What a hunk of junk, I should have known this wouldn't work.'

Out of habit Macaque's ears twitched but he glanced over to his king "was that you?"

The king was about to open his mouth to say something but remembered that the other couldn't hear him.

"He can hear your thoughts now" meiyings tail wagged happily.

Wukong had sly smile on his face which confused the demon. The fox tilted her head confused.

'Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring banana phone dodo dado do do'

Macaque's eyes widen as the song started repeating in his head. Gold eyes narrowed at the king as the said monkey wore a shit eating grin. Meiying just looked back and forth between the monkey's confused.

"Knock it off Wukong! I'm warning you!" Macaque growled.

'Ok ok I'm sorry'

"I'm gonna assume the artifact works" the fox chuckled "now you can easily communicate with him."

Meiying waved good by to the two as she headed out of water curtain cave. Macaque looked at the necklace again with a small smile.

'Hey can I hug you?'

"Huh?"

The king flustered a bit 'can I hug you?'

Macaque took a second to think it over and nodded. Happy tail wagging the king pulled the demon into a embrace. The demon gave a small purr as Wukong nuzzled into his neck. Macaque felt like everything was falling into place.
